well, the difference in converters between a Delta 1010 and a Delta 44/66 aren't that great.

you must not own a delta product to say somthing like that...
the delta 1010 has the BEST akm converters...

thats true, but why not get your big computer now, yet keep it reletively cheap...and when the time comes, upgrade to what you need in terms of soundcards.

i dont have 600 bucks to spend on a soundcard at the time, i only had 160 (ebay)...haha.

there is also a big difference between prices..

Upgrading a soundcard is more of a one time lump sum thing than upgrading a computer which can be done part by part. I think the smartest thing for all you hotrod computer geeks to do is start with a 2nd or 3rd generation old CPU and decent affordable mobo like ECS's sis735 or 745 boards (Im using the K7S5A --quality control issues from last fall have been cleared up--with an xp 1800 processor, win xp and a delta 1010 with no problems..or shall I say no unworkable problems...) upgrade that as you have the money to do so. Part by part. Anything you record now will be compromised by the mediocre conversion of a 44 or 66 type card. There will be no going back from that.

yeah, but when coming from a soundblaster awe 16 (from 7 years ago)...the delta 44/66 is far better thne mediocre.

In comparison to other converters, I don't think any Delta converter is the best. But that's my opinion, whether not anyone can handle that.
