I am seriously thinking about getting a pair, if I get enough money back from my finacial aid for school!

well I've pretty much decided the wharfdales are the next monitors i buy....its been a month now and samson still hasnt sent all the parts needed to fix my 65a.

wharfdale doesnt make any 8" woofer monitors do they? sorry if anyone asked that before but i didnt feel like reading 100 posts

deepwater, im thinking of buying a pair from you.. how much do u think it will cost to ship to TEXAS zipcode 77449. thank you.

ok..question... would i be better off buying the 8.2 PRO passive speakers and use my Crown D-75 amp to power them, or buy the active 8.2 model? will it make any significant sonic difference? For the $75 dollar difference between passive and active, i would be willing to go either way. thanks.

Right then kiddies, as someone who lives IN Wharfedale I can thoroughly recommend these monitors. I haven't heard them, but local business is important. Just ask George Dubya.;)

Alec - is Digital Village not going to have a lower price than SC? They'll match DV's price if you threaten to walk out of the shop.:)

Deepwater's doing very well out of this thread!!

Thats a good amp and I think you will be fine. Most people that ask have some cheap ART amp or something. So with that I would say get the passives.

I jsut blew up mys passives ... :( Get a volume control KNOB instead of flaky software voluem control.. thought i should share taht and spare you the agony of seeing a woofer move about 4 cm...

But gonna get them repaired for they are awesome...

Sorry to here that, but it happens when you get things out of control. I blew a $3500.00 Renkus-Heinze speaker once.

damn. That musta hurt, not?

The hifi guy i bought em from was really cool, he agreed to fix the blown woofer and check the remaining parts ... costs will be low... That's what you get when you want to go too cheap boys and girls, let me be your test dummy and say that YOU WANT A MOFO HARDWARE volume control. I did check the software volume setting, but it simply didn't work... well f*ck me.

ah well, lessons don't, come cheap do they? or it would be this board... LOL

Thats ok. I just try and help out when I can.

Wharfedale 8.2A

AMS Price $335.00

Price to my homerecording friends $275.00

Does anyone know of similar prices for a pair of 8.2A's in Europe (Belgium)? They seem so hard to find over here and even online I can't seem to find them. The lowest I have found is 360 EUR for the pair + shipping. Man, that's too much. All info is more than welcome.
Thanks all!

too much? that's the price my friend. they'll giev you about 10% off though... (www.wharfedalepro.de)

ps. The passives are 225,- but you'll need an amp. they're available in belgium

Yeah I know that's the RRP but when you see what they cost in the US, you wonder  Thanks for the link. I'll send them an email - and if they can give me 10% on 360 EUR, that's great. But that leaves shipping costs... maybe they have a Dealer in belgium...

Talking about the passives: would they work well with a Samson Servo 120 amplifier? That's what I use now with my old Alesis Monitor Ones. How would the Wharfdales measure up to Monitor Ones? Kick the crap out of them????
Thxs all!

None of you seem very impressed that I live in Wharfedale. I'd be impressed if you lived in the place a gear maker was named after! No fair!

hey guys...after looking at my options like many, i'm strongly considering these!!!

something i've not seen anyone posted, is how would these monitors be for producing trance, techno, house and other forms of EDM...deepwater...how much would it cost for the 8.2a's to be shipped to canada with taxes and shipping (area code L9H 3T9) thanks

Well, I kind of ran into a little snag... I only got $5 bucks back from my finanial aid, so no monitors yet! D'oh!!

Well, i hate top admit it buit living in the usa is better when looking at gear prices... but hey at leats we didn't start a war! ;)

Samson would work, but look hard for a used "hifi" amp. The bryston that massive turned me to really made the wharfies shine... (and blew em up... LOL)

The monitor one's are ok, but nowhere near the wharfies imho.

the alesis sound home stereo to me...
