Yeah, we like them
I recieved mine from Deepwater last Saturday. I was blown away at the build quality, they are very well constructed for a "cheap Chinese made speaker". There were no cosmetic flaws, all joints were tight, all connectors and switches well seated, etc. Beautiful finish. Cool blue LED. Nice addition is the speaker grills, which helps when the kids want to come into the studio. Magnetic shielding was excellent, which I find to be lacking is some brands. I've got a 24" Sony Triniton monitor that is notoriously sensitive to magnetic interferance. I put the Warfe's slam up next to the thing with no problems.
I auditioned the mackie 624s, Behringer 2031A and M-audio BX8s in my room, then bought the W'dale's site "unheard". I'm happy to say they were all they were made out to be, much better than the Berry's, more accurate than the BX8s (BX8 were too bass heavy for me), on par or slightly better than the Mackie 624s for 1/3 the cost (the Mackies I borrowed from another studio, so they were used but "broken in").
The 8.75" drivers in the 2031A's looks inpressive on paper, but as most of us know a well designed speaker with smaller drivers can do better than a "so-so" design using larger ones.
Keep in mind these are my "first impressions" in my own listening environment, YRMV. I was also working from memory on the Mackis, but they are still available and I could do an "A to B" comparison is anyone was really interested.
If I had a wish list, it would be an adjustable crossover frequency control or the ability to "bi-amp" the Warfe's. No big deal though, and those feature would probably raise the price by $100.
For ~$300 shipped, you can't go wrong with the Warfedale's.
