I've been mucking around with We Got to Get Out of this Place by the Animals lately...trying to do a cover...because I will be leaving HK soon.

Anyway...the bassline...any tips on how I could play it fluidly on a midi keyboard? I watched a thousand actual bass covers on youtube...all of which I think are terrible...in tone and execution. Anyway, that's not the point.

I've tried playing it on midi keyboard with the built in Studio Instruments from Sonar...I can never get a reasonable tone...nor the fluidity of the signature run...so any tips would be good.

Also...there are the guitar chords going up from A - Bb to C...bar chords during the verses/ build up.

The last C bar chord rings a lot...I wonder how that was achieved...was it a 12 string? 2 guitars?

I know full well that it was recorded way back then, in that room, by those guys, on those instruments, with that feeling, with those producers...etc...so I'm not looking for an education on all that stuff...

I just would appreciate any tips for getting my sound as close as I can with what I have.

I'd be using a Fender Strat...but a midi keyboard for the bass

thanks

Don't know but it looks like he stays on the low strings the first four or so and then picks up the full higher strings and the keys join in to build up with the higher register. I always sort of figured there might be a second guitar on that build but I'm not sure (just looked at the one of the live of tv' vids.

Good old stuff. :)

Well if your 'earth is near my earth.. you're welcome to borrow my Dean hollow body bass and just suck it up. :)

If I could get a real bass I would love to try...

Yeah the A-Bb-C...he plays the low notes first...then the treble strings included as the runs go on....they do really ring out
