Well, he is pretty new to all this!

So Sillyhat, which way do you like it better? EQ to Compressor or Compressor to EQ?

I more times than not will compress after EQ.

I compress a bit on the way in, no EQ. During the mix, it depends on what the vocal sounds like compared to what I want it to sound like. However, I do route all the vocals to a bus and compress them together and maybe brighten them up or take away some annoying build-up. Sometimes I will route the vocal effects into the same buss, to glue the sound together or to use the compressor on the buss to keep the delay or verb out of the way when the vocalist is singing. It really does all depend. Really!
