ive been using a dp02 for a while now and pretty much got the thing mastered. but i bought a 2488 since i was running out of tracks and hate bouncing.. and im having a problem with the faders. say ive got my guitar tracks on # 2 and 3...and ive got the physical faders at the ZERO position, where it should be muted. but it isnt. i checked the manual, and learned about going into the mixer preferance, to mak sure it was set to "real" which it was.. then i tried nulling it, but the virtual fader position will not move. I dont have the machine in front of me, so ill try to explain this as best i can without knowing the exact values of the physical and virtual faders.. with the faders at ZERO, i still hear the tracks pretty well.. now if i crank the faders to the MAX... the track plays only at about half.. i know this is because the virtual faders and i cant seem to over-ride this, or get them to match the physical fader... sorry for the lenght but i really need some help here, im ready to use this 2488 as a testing surface for my new sledgehammer... I love tascam equipment, but right now im frustrated. thanks

I'm going from memory, on my first cup of coffee, so bear with me....I had a similar problem with my 2488 shortly after I got it (when it was first released), and the solution turned out to be to set the faders to Jump or Catch....don't recall which I used at the moment, but in all the years since I made that change (which was suggested to me on the old Tascam forums), I have not had a problem with the faders at all. I'd suggest trying one or the other (or both) and see if it doesn't provide normal operation of the faders for you. Hope it helps!
