Using a tape deck as a DAW plug-in

Interesting and sickening all at once. I mean, its a great thing i suppose, but this line bugs me:

"Additionally, it gives commercial recording facilities something unique that people cannot get at a typical home studio.”

There are many many things that typical home studio doesnt have. And the most important ones that will factor in are the sound properties of the rooms and monitor setup, not digital or tape differences. I just hate little salesman pitches and the whole pro studio vs home studio BS. If pro studios really want to help bands they should do more pre-production and arranging of the songs before actual recording begins. Having a decent arranger to consult is something that a pro studio could offer that a home studio cant, but it would actually help. Digital/analog can never, will never EVER effect a recording a fraction of what a wise arrangement decision can.

Products, products, products...

I think that sales pitch was mainly underscoring the high cost of the unit...also you would need/want the right kind of deck that has remote transport control capability and quality to make you want to use it (a portastudio ain't it ;) ), not to mention you would want a pretty decent DAW setup.
I mean...a "typical home studio" would never spring for something like that.

I actually see the pitch coming from the fact that in many ways the pro studios HAVE been hurt by the home studio boom to a good degree...so this kinda gives them back something that won't be available for $99 as a download off some app website. :)

Of course, the big pro studios still have their rooms, something most home studios will also never have.

But the real kicker is that you no longer need to track to tape, dump to DAW...you can do it after the fact, though that said...much of the "tape magic" really happens when you go to tape first, and not digital and THEN tape....though it's still workable that way, I guess.
I mean...I've taken direct to DAW tracks and run them out to a tape deck just to "soften" them up some.
So it's pretty cool that you can do it in real time without latency/sync issues.

"...you can rewind the tape at any time by pressing the large rewind button on the CLASP Bridge plug-in in your DAW..."
WOW! It does not get any cooler than that!
heh heh heh
:D  :D

The good news is that this device (and other devices of similar nature :) ) will be purchased by guys who deserve ( ;) ) to get it. Huh Huh.
...I mean, guys, who buy studer, clasp and couple gran$' of cable without "knowing" ...and get blown away, just completely blown away :D
and it's all good ;)

my favorite quote: "If you’ve used a tape deck, you know how much time is spent rewinding ..."

DEALBREAKER! SOLD!

its scary how fast an ampex 440 rewinds a tape.
