I think that sales pitch was mainly underscoring the high cost of the unit...also you would need/want the right kind of deck that has remote transport control capability and quality to make you want to use it (a portastudio ain't it

), not to mention you would want a pretty decent DAW setup.
I mean...a "typical home studio" would never spring for something like that.
I actually see the pitch coming from the fact that in many ways the pro studios HAVE been hurt by the home studio boom to a good degree...so this kinda gives them back something that won't be available for $99 as a download off some app website.
Of course, the big pro studios still have their rooms, something most home studios will also never have.
But the real kicker is that you no longer need to track to tape, dump to DAW...you can do it after the fact, though that said...much of the "tape magic" really happens when you go to tape first, and not digital and THEN tape....though it's still workable that way, I guess.
I mean...I've taken direct to DAW tracks and run them out to a tape deck just to "soften" them up some.
So it's pretty cool that you can do it in real time without latency/sync issues.
