2 tsr8's
hi, where do i begin? Thanks, by the way, for the feedback. Looks like it's going to be
a mts-1000. Stalemayte, I have 14 fingers, i need a track for each....to capture and manipulate the full essence of my 20 string guitar playing.

But, seriously....sometimes I have more than 8 elements in a mix
(believe it or not) and I'm not real fond of bouncing. Let's see....
track 1......lead vocal
2......harmony vocal(s)
3......acoustic guitar
or track 3,4,5 three mics on an acoustic guitar (or two)
4......bass guitar
5......keyboards
6 & 7 drum machine or submixed real drummer
or track 6,7,8,9, real drums
8......lead guitar
9......sometimes fiddle, sometimes harmonica, cello, sitar etc.
10......sometimes double-tracked lead vocal
11......blowing bubbles in a glass of water (like "yellow submarine')
12,13,14 three real horns in a horn section or whatever!
(this could be done with one mic I suppose)
but anyway....I want more tracks!
Right now, I use 2 to 3 on vocals......usually 2 on rythmn guitar
1 on 2nd (lead) guitar.....1 or 2 on keyboards (piano, strings etc)
1 on bass.....1 on some rythmic coloring element.....so you see...just
with this i'm over my eight. I have one song where the sound of the
ocean intros the song and weaves in and out throughout the song
and fades on the seashore sounds....so that's one track just for the
friggin' waves and foghorns. 14 tracks just gives me more flexibility
and options (though I sometimes think too many options is no option
at all). I've also decided to shit-can my 16 track digital recorder and
go "totally" analog.....even to mixing down to 1/2" tape....then to cd
digital.....though I do, of course, use some digital processors and such.
But as far as the recording media....it's gonna be tape. But that's
another story I really don't wanna get started on. I prefer the sound
....period....don't ask me why....I prefer the "cumbersome", slower, no
"UNDO" aspect too. Oh no I don't wanna start this Dig/Ana thing off,
so forget it.....ok? So anyway....thanks for the help on my question guys
and take care. keep on makin' de music. kk
oops......I forgot I was on the Analog only forum.
