TSR-8 Question...

Sorry for the double post, but only 2 people have viewed my thread in the Tascam Forum

The dB meter on track 4 is not functioning on my tsr-8 although the track records, and plays back perfectly. Is this an easy fix? Where would I start as far as checking parts, and what part might I need to order?

I'm not sure if the entire ladder would normally die like that, so I'd suspect it's more likely that there's a problem with the connection to it. The schematics aren't easy to follow and I've never examined the electronics on my unit, but it appears that there is a single jumper for each channel. I'm not sure where it is on the operations board containing the ladder, but on the motherboard it goes to J34 for channel 4.

This jumper is apparently on the left-hand side of the motherboard. I would check the connection on that.. see whether it's come loose or something. Try a continuity test, perhaps?
You might want to try swapping the J34 lead with J33 and see if the fault moves from CH4 to CH3.
