Trying to get some drum tracks on the GP9 out for review, but...

you can use unbalanced ts/rca cables for main outs and for subs with no "special effects" to be expected :D

main outputs (main mix) are +4dBu nominal level on most (if not on all ??? ;)) mixing boards. If your recorder's line level is -10dBV, then you need to attenuate MORE by "record level knob" (most if not all two-track stereo recorder got one :)), if your recorder's oper line level is +4dBu, then you "attenuate" less if any (for example I keep record level knob on my CD-Recorder all the way up and never touch the damn thing).
Some mixers have special so-called "tape outs" which are RCA/-10dBV.

My "tape returns" is what I'm running back into the board from the MSR. They are switchable in groups of 8 between +4/-10, so I'm running them at -10 since the MSR in/outs are -10. Main line outs I'm just using the TS out to the rca jacks in the CDRW-700. I think that is under control now...ends up being two causes simultaneously I believe. One, the signal going out to the MSR was a good level, coming back it it gained some db, and I wasn't pulling back the faders enough to compensate. Two, I had the digital gain on the CD recorder set too high for the levels coming in, as they were driving the LR meters on the CD hard into the reds.
The snare may be a little aggressive and I may need to torque down the velocity response on the DM Pro to smooth it out a bit, that or I will (if and when I get all of these little snaffous dealt with) use a little compression via Joemeek on the snare that would tame it. Or maybe I just have the level set too high?

It's the damned 60 cycle hum that is really bothering me now.
