I have one 2x12...but I'm thinking of getting a 2x12 slant cab from Sourmash...which will probably happen if/when I get another amp head.
I do have a nice varirty of 1x12 cabs though...smaller/larger, open/closed/semi-closed....and they do cover a lot of my needs.

I use to have one of the Avatar Vintage 2x12 cabs...it was sweet, and a rather larger 2x12 cab...but it didn't get a lot of use, so I sold it. I still have one of the Avatar Vintage 1z12 cabs...which is big cab with a big sound.

I had an oversized Avatar 2x12 too. Fantastic cab. I really liked it once I got used to it. Vintage 30s. Great cab. But I traded it for another Marshall 4x12. I took the V30s out of the Avatar, put some stock 75s in there, and made the trade.

Haha, I don't know. I can't compete with all that SSD EZDrum Slate shit out there now. It's not worth the hassle. Besides, I'd rather not enable too many people.

I know I was playing the 25W version but it just sounded very thin, fizzy and didn't have any balls. I couldn't coax a loud rock tone out of it, it sounded so clean.

Seriously Greg, your raw samples sound as good as any I've heard. The only real difference I've heard is the others usually have a few different room mic sounds, along with the close/spot mic...

I had no idea what kind of shit I was getting into there dude, seriously. I can make the round-robin thing work, & have multi-layers, but holy fuck if it ain't a lot of hassle/work man. Just throwing a few samples into a sampler is pretty easy, but when I got to the code to make it all "tick", I was just overwhelmed to say the least...Some of these programs have like 1,000+ hits in 'em, for each cymbal/instrument...:eek:



The little button that changes the midi note in this pic, is a line of code (in a text file) that's unbelievably long just for a simple button. Mind boggling for me anyway...I'm still working on those other samples though, & making progress, I'm just a fuckin' hack at it though....:laughings:

Lol. There is no motherfucking way I'm hitting a drum or cymbal 1000+ times just to make some samples. I'd have to charge a dollar per hit or something to make it worthwhile. :D


The reamping thing isn't a terrible idea though. I've been pondering it for a long time now. I can do any tone you want...as long as it's Marshall. :D

One of these things - where you have to push and pull knobs to change modes. I couldn't crank the power section.

Yeah I know. It's really like three channels. Clean channel, clean with rhythm clip, and lead channel. The lead channel is not clean though. It's gross and dirty, mushy even. Well that's how the big Jubes are. I've never tried the mini-Jube. I don't like any of them.

Lol, I know dude, I know...I actually didn't realize all the shit I'd have to do in order to make a few cymbals that are midi triggered & work "correctly"...The cymbals aren't that bad (on my end of things anyway), but the hi-hats are monotonous as fuck with all the different articulations...

The re-amp thing you could do man, for sure...



I think JDOD needs a Mesa amp...

I've only ever tried a Dual Rec. I was in a shop trying guitars and I played a really nice PRS through a 100W Dual Rec. It was epic. But totally impractical for my needs. Not tried any of their smaller stuff.

I'll try the EVH next as they stock them locally to me. What about Trace Elliott? Do they do anything I might like? I've not seen a TE amp anywhere lately.
Bognor used to do a nice small combo too.

Thought it might have been - possibly a bit too hi-gain for me but its probably worth a pop. I'd rather spend 430 quid on that than 800 odd quid on a Victory if it works out.

Dude, you can turn the gain down on these amps. My little EVH LBX has more gain than I'd ever use, I never turn the gain past 4-5, ever...It's a decent little amp, but you will need another cab IMO, a 2x12 (like everyone else mentioned) would probably work really good with this amp. Be warned though, it's a loud 15 watt amp...

That depends on what you call a light crunch dude...it can do a semi-clean on either channel...It's a good little amp for what it is dude, best thing is for you to go try one out & see if you like it or not... What you like, I may not like at all, & vice-versa...
