Okay, that's fine then. Now make it a raw, mono, wav file and ship it to me. 0 the faders. Nothing on it. Just send me the raw recorded wav exactly as it is.

Shit, of course. That one I just uploaded was an MP3 render. I'll email it to you now.

Ok I got it. The wife and kids should be leaving in a little while, I'll see what I can do with it just to compare. When I heard that riff, my very first thought was "this thing needs to be through an 800".

But I suck at metal, so I'll probably just make it shitty even through the grandaddy of all metal amps. :laughings:

Don't give me that "I'll make it shitty" crap dude.....Re-amp that motherfucker, I wanna hear it....

BTW, do you have a re-amp box, or are you just gonna use a pedal???

Cheers, I'm just genuinely curious as to how its gonna sound - I've only owned two guitar amps since I was 16! I'm fairly happy with the tone from the Blackstar, but I can see the slight abrasiveness in there... a slight belt sander in amongst the tone.

You don't have to play it, just dial it in! and I know you can dial in a Marshall! Saying that, I hope my playing is alright on that clip 'cos I couldn't really hear it, I was just winging it.

Lol. No I'm not playing it. I'm saying that I don't have a very good ear for "metal" because I don't play it or listen to it. With the right performance, yours, I might be able to dial something in that sounds good.

Miner I'm just gonna go from the line out on the interface, through my pedalboard (buffers) and into the JCM 800. I'll mic the V30s because that's what JDOD has.

Ahh.... I know what you're trying to do... You're gonna dial in a fucking bomb-tone with my playing to convince to me buy a fucking JCM aren't you???

This could end up being a very, very expensive experiment.

Lol. No. You might not even like it. I just wanna see what I can do with a metal riff.

Your neighbors would not like you having this amp. Or their neighbors. Or your neighbors a town over. Or Scotland. You will piss off all of them.

I think I need to get a boat... a sound-proofed boat.

It should sound about the same as a re-amp box if your pedals are buffered dude...While I do like my Radial RMP, if I could've found a cheaper solution at the time, I probably would have went a different direction...

I'm pretty interested to hear a re-amp from you dude, especially with the great amps/cabs/mics you have...

For real though....a few years ago Marshall made a bunch of 1 watt versions of their more famous amps, and the JCM-1 was by far, in my opinion, the best one. It had the grind tone of a real JCM 800...but in a much smaller package. With a 2x12 that little amp sounded really great. But they're expensive as shit for what they are. They're out there though.

Well now that I'm not only drumming out locally anymore, the secret is out that I have all these amps and cabs and people I know are starting to ask about reamping. They're mostly hard rock/metal dudes. I might be able to make some cash off of these guys if they want big loud Marshall reamping, and it seems that they do.

I'm sitting on the sofa having a beer :) but here's my amp corner. I recon I can get a 2x12 cab on there with a little "lunchbox" style head like a Victory V30.

amp corner.webp

A reamping service could be pretty profitable actually. Its just a case of promoting it as best you can.

Haha I've been telling you that you need a 2x12!

Well you don't "need" one but if you wanna go to the next level, I think a 2x12 certainly won't hurt.

I saw a vid of your boy Chapman going back and forth between 4x12 and a 2x12. Huge difference. That difference will be the same between a 1x12 nd a 2x12.

The problem, as always, is dealing with musicians. And who are the worst? Guitar players. And who are the worst guitar players? Metal players.

I've not seen that one. I'll take a look for it. I just want to find an amp head that really floats my boat first. The only Marshall head I tried recently was that 25W Jubilee and it wasn't what I was after. Of all the amps I tried last week I've decided that, with the possible exception of the Randall 50, I don't really like any of them as much as my current Blackstar.

Haha I've been telling you that you need a 2x12!.

Yeah...a 2x12 is good for more tone variety.
I have one 2x12...but I'm thinking of getting a 2x12 slant cab from Sourmash...which will probably happen if/when I get another amp head.
I do have a nice varirty of 1x12 cabs though...smaller/larger, open/closed/semi-closed....and they do cover a lot of my needs.

I use to have one of the Avatar Vintage 2x12 cabs...it was sweet, and a rather larger 2x12 cab...but it didn't get a lot of use, so I sold it. I still have one of the Avatar Vintage 1z12 cabs...which is big cab with a big sound.

JDOD: I had a 1w Marshall DSL head, paid like $800 for it new. I bought the DSL100H (which was 100w, 2 - channels, 4 -modes) for $100 more...Go figure...But, I will say the little DSL sounded good through a 4x12. I've read/heard the JCM1 was the best out of the 5, but I never got to try any of the others out...They're out there & can be bought, but they're expensive as fuck for what they are....

Greg: You know dude, I'd been thinking about the re-amp thing for a while. You've got the gear & knowledge, so I'd say you could make a little $$$ doing that. I see people advertising a lot in other forums, & apparently, there is a demand, so that might work out for you man...

You could also probably sell your drum samples too, just a thought dude...

Nah, bassists are the worst. At least guitar players usually practice so they won't blame you for their own shit playing.

I can see how it would be a pain in the arse though... I've never met an American metal player though... I'm just imagining some guy with a greasy mullet who's poured himself into a pair of leather trousers. I wouldn't fancy it either.
