Yes they are. I remember reading somewhere a couple years ago they were made specifically for them. the guys name has left me. I suppose it doesn't matter. I also don't know they even tour with those things anymore or even used them at all. I did some youtubing. No Video evidence was found just the odd live photo here and there. No Biggie.

For gimmick and schtick, mission accomplished.

They used them on Conan OBrien or one of those nighttime talk shows.

Please post some tones and don't let this troll fuck the thread up.
Want to. I just can't get a distortion sound I am happy with at the moment. My first love is grunge, not quite like the Time For A Change song, looser and punkier than that but everything sounds like I am sitting in a skip (dumpster to the yanks) at the moment.

Okay, back on topic, just so you know this thread is actually judgement free. Post up a clip and maybe we can help you.

I'm in bed now!! It's 11 pm on a Tuesday night over here!! Just enjoying the thread. I'm trying lots of things at the moment, working with an amp sim and pedals into an amp sim. When I am going for any sort of distortion it all sounds shit. Turns to mush unless I keep it really tight with lots of palm muting. I want to play a bit looser.

You guys were very helpful when I posted up "Finally" everything sitting better in the mix on that one now.

I suspect you're dialing up way too much gain. Classic metal mistake. :D

Possibly, will just keep reducing until I get somewhere. Using the Jackhammer at the moment too, got about half way down the gain knob when I quit and went to bed. Haven't decided on my drum beats yet either. Will post it up when it's done though.

Speaking of tones.... :)

I just scored this little baby yesterday on eBay for $120. I think the new ones go for like $280, so not a bad deal...though like I really needed another pedal!

Hope to have it in a few days....I'll post some clips when it's here.

I'll also use the new Kent Armstrong PAF-flavored pups I got last week and installed in one of my Hag Swedes....that way I can demo the pedal and the pups.

Kent Armstrong Pickups
WPUJBC: A thick, rich, high output humbucker that retains the tone of Kent's famous Vintage series pickup, yet has more drive and crunch. Great for rock and other medium to heavy gain applications and an excellent bridge position compliment to the Vintage series when used in the neck position. 4 conductor wiring allows coil splitting, series/parallel, phase inversion, and more. Put this pickup into your bridge position and get wired for sound! Chrome cover.
ALNICO V MAGNET/D.C.= 14.7K - Magnet Length in millimeters 58 long X 3 thick X 12.5 wide.

VINTAGE C: This Kent Armstrong Vintage Series pickup design has sweet, soulful tones with a warm bass, punchy mids, and a bright, jangly treble response best describes this Kent Armstrong design. Very reminiscent of a vintage PAF but with enhanced string definition and sounds great with foot pedal effects for great warm vintage tone. 6 adjustable pole pieces. 4 conductor wiring allows coil splitting, series/parallel, phase inversion, and more. Chrome Cover
ALNICO V MAGNET/D.C.= 8.8K - Magnet Length in millimeters 58 long X 3 thick X 12.5 wide.

I really like the neck pup, it's got a sweet midrange and the low end is more subdued than my stock Hag pups. The bridge isn't as over-wound as I thought it would be when I saw the 14.7k ohm spec. It's like, both have about the same level output as the stock pups, but a completely different tone balance. They will be a nice addition/variation to what I already have.

When recording with sims, my best luck has always been not using any pedals pre-input. The sim should have an equivalent in its program or maybe an effects loop. What sim are you using?

I haven't ever been truly blown away buy guys that can shred, and sweep pick or whatever it called. Finger tapping solos. Probably becasue it just kind of "to be expected" I won't dismiss their talent. Not ever, I sure can't do it given how i have to play a guitar. So i can sort of respect it. But i don't cream my shorts.

The guys who blow me away are the ones that can take all 6 strings, play three or four chords through overdriven amps and make it sound/look like a simple/beautiful arrangement but really it's incredibly deceptive and complex. I'm Looking at guys like Frankie Stubbs and Dickie Hammond of Leatherface. Every time i listen to any of those records and then sit down and try to figure out a song my brain melts. I literally can't even. Pass me a Pumpkin Spice latte so i Literally Can't even like a real white girl.

That blows me away. More so then a "to be expected" 10 minute sit through of scales bending and pick squealing.

Two Cents from the cold ass north.

damn homie, turn that presence down

Lol.....I know dude, I know....hahaha When I post the next round of clips, they'll be a lot darker dude...lol...

I'm really liking your G12H30 and I can hear it softening up compared to your earlier clips with it.

Yeah dude, I can hear it every time I play through the cab, getting a little better every time...Great speaker IMO....But, the Greenback is still king for me, even over the '65....

Wow guys, I really missed the shit-storm here today, didn't I???? Lol......

Wavewarrior: Sorry dude, I actually forgot to reply about the Ceriatone amp you linked, best thing to do is check their website, & see what a new amp would go for, then add the $200 shipping...I highly recommend their amps, my Chupacabra is a kick-ass tone-machine, I just need to learn to dial it in....lol....
And, while I'm at it, just let it go dude, the Gerg is the Gerg, & we've all came to accept that :laughings:, but like Bob said, you won't find anyone, anywhere who can record guitars & drums like this guy...How do you think my tones have improved so much (or I hope anyway...lol) over the past couple years??? Greg dude....Well, not just Greg, everybody here in this thread, but without Greg telling me the way it is, I'd still be fucking around not learning a damn thing....So again, just let it go dude, this is the best thread anywhere, & we all intend to keep it this way....

..

I'm interested in the Ceriatone amp for a project studio a friend is building in Clearwater. He's building a pretty big room and was asking me about picking something up to wow clients when they walk in, kinda torn between a Ceriatone or maybe a Soldano. Thanks for the heads up.:thumbs up:

I have to use clocks as there are no numbers on any of my dials.

Finally got a useable grungy tone that doesn't turn to complete mush

I don't think that's too bad. It's a little bright and scratchy to me, but it's probably gonna work if you're looking for a dirty grungy sound. Maybe get a little more low mids in it.

Yeah, a bit on the scratchy side is what I thought too. Sounds better with drums and bass with it, I am just working on the intro and first verse to the first song I ever wrote! ha ha, wrote this 20 years ago (I was 14 - big Nirvana fan) and when packing all my stuff came across a tape recording (hideous quality) from my gran's garage!

Here's the test mix of the intro and pre-chorus

The distorted guitars aren't working quite right together. The general sound is alright though.

Oh man, I've got tons of old tapes. I wish I had a way to listen to them more often. One of my high school buddy's dad was the pastor of a huge church. We used to break in there late at night and jam on all the church equipment and record it through the soundboard. It was awesome. He was the drummer, I'd do everything else. We'd record everything, and then go over and overdub things all night long. We learned a lot about playing and recording just trying to bang our way through Ramones songs all night. This was like 1988.

I think I know what y'all are talking about, but there are some pretty badass non-shred metal bands out there now.

cassettes or R to R?
If it's cassettes I have a plethora of good cassette machines ..... I'll send you one.
If it's R to R, I also have a plethora of those machines but I ain't sending them! :D

of course there are ...... and I don't think it's true that we all hate metal ...... it's mopre of a running joke although I absolutely loath that scoopd mids sound ..... you lose all note definition when you do that.
But of course there's some great players and bands ........ just not my preference ....... I prefer other stuff. Just me and my taste.
