is that you man?
And if it is ... what the hell kinda cab is that on the right? looks like an 8x12

prolly gonna be someone famous and I'll look silly because I devote no memory to knowing what people look like. :D

But I like them mainly because I live in KC, and their shipping warehouse is just a few miles from here. I've ordered things one day and received them at 10:00 the next morning. Perfect for the instant gratification thing every once in a while!
In Baton Rouge a Guitar Center opened up 2 minutes from my house. OMG was that awesome!! :D

It is someone famous...it's me! :laughings:

Yup, that's me last night.

Those are 8x10 cabs. This new band I joined has 3 of them. They don't sound as good as my 4x12s, but they look cool and they like to have them as a backline for the big rock star look. Two on my side, the 8x10 bass rig and one more 8x10 guitar cab on the other side. They don't mind hauling them around so what the hell? I'll use them. All I show up with are my guitars and whatever heads I wanna use. I had my JCM 800 and JMP 2204 blaring last night. Rock!

man .... you look great. That's rock and roll right there.

And those cabs are killer looking ..... and personally I like 10's ..... they're not quite as fat as 12's but they're so quick and if you have enough of them ........ :D

I bet it was roaring!

Thanks dude! Yeah you know, it probably was loud as fuck in there. But I know it was a good loud. The other guitar player uses a Les Paul and a JCM 2000 DSL and another 8x10, so it was a lot of Gibson/Marshall goodness in there.

I usually like 10s too, but I'm not sure what 10s are in these cabs. They're pretty tight and even with 8 speakers the cab isn't too chunky sounding. They definitely don't have the earth shaking power of my 4x12s stacked. It's really a good thing though because 1) I don't have to haul them, and 2) these cabs aren't kill you loud. And they're very light. I don't know what they're made of but I can carry one all by myself no problem. One of my 4x12 B cabs feels heavier than these 8x10s.

sorry I missed it - I was curled up with a fever - damn kids coming home for the holidays with their pathogens

No worries man. I'm sorry you feel bad. Get well soon, and let me know when your Monkease play again. Maybe we can do a show together at Rudz.

Cool photo Greg.
Cool gear.
The leather looks a little new though!
Is that your pedal board?
How does the SG like live work?

Hah thanks Ray. The leather is old! I got that jacket in maybe....1993-ish? I found it in a closet at a squat house that everyone sort of hung out in back in the day. I claimed it and have had it ever since. There's no telling how old it actually is. I suspect it's from the 70s or 80s. The tag on the inside says it's made in London and the label has an image of two gay biker looking guys sort of hugging. Lol. It's a gay biker jacket and I wear it proudly. That jacket has seen and done everything. It's a well made jacket but at this point parts of it are patched with black duct tape. It only looks good in pics and smells good never.

Yup that is my pedalboard that I use reluctantly with this new band.

That was the first time I actually used that particular SG live, and it did great. No complaints. Those minihums don't drive the JCM 800 very hard though, so on some songs I kicked in a clean boost from the Tube Screamer. Sounded cool to me. That's my LP on the stand next to me, and it never came off the stand. :)

One of my bike jackets looked like it had the same sheen: I'd cleaned it with Armoral - did a great job on the leather but it looked almost new.
Anyway - it LOOKS like the right gear all round for a rock'n gig. Knowing some of your taste in music and having heard your recordings I'm sure the set rocked.
When are you going to record a little of one & post live tone?

Mick Ronson's Tone?

This fellow cops a bagging in the comments section.
BUT when the wah is in the right spot it does sound good.

I wasn't aware that he used this piece of kit but it does suit The man Who Sold the World stuff.

I don't know man. It's not up to me. I might take my field recorder to a gig one day and just set it up in the back of the room. It's weird, I constantly see people jamming their phones up in the air to snap pics and take video, but I never actually get to see any of it.

Those Ronno tones are all okay to me. The first fat guy did pretty good IMO. He had the best gear of the bunch. That sound takes some gear to get it right.

Nice pic Greg...I mean to comment a day or so ago, been pretty busy over here with work....Another surprise mini-vacation, after tonight, I'm off work until Monday....It'll suck $$$-wise, but, I wasn't expecting any more time off until July, so I'll damn sure take it....

Happy New Year Tone Chasers!!!!

Damn I was just about to text you to see where the fuck you've been!

Enjoy the time off. Put up some tones. :)

Yeah dude, sorry, just been busy with shit....life gets in the way of my music sometimes....lol....

Been working on the songs, pretty much got about 3-4 almost done, need some vocals on 'em, maybe during the time off I can get around to 'em...

Something you'll love to hear is I got some more drum samples...lol....Toontrack's "Made of Metal" expansion....they actually sound pretty good to me, TT must've upped their game, because for an EZ Drummer expansion, they sound a lot better than the others, including some of the Superior expansions....I know they're not real drums, but they'll have to do....I'm thinking of buying an e-kit too, it'd be a lot faster for me just to whack out what's in my head, then go back & fix it in the daw (I'm not a drummer btw....lol) than trying to get the software to do it....It's frustrating to say the least, but, I gotta do what I gotta....

Off to work, last shift this year...been a hell of a year, but it's gettin' better...lol...

See you guys after while....

Happy New Year!!!!!

The DSL40 with the Creamback arrived yesterday, but it was the same day that my new studio/jam space was completed so I only got to spend about 20 minutes with it. All I can say so far, in comparison to my other amps, is that it's very bright. That's a good thing because I've had trouble with my other amps sounding dull and lifeless when recorded. So I'm anxious to stick a mic in front of this thing and see how it sounds.

I cranked both channels up to 10 and it sounded nice. But on 10, it rattles. Par for the course for a combo, but irritating nonetheless. I'll post up some tones this weekend when I've had more time to figure out what I'm doing with this thing.

The 68 Deluxe Reverb is pretty damn sweet. I plugged my Tele into it and it just sparkles, excellent cleans. I'm anxious to fiddle with this one more as well.
