No. Lol. I can name maybe 3 ozzy songs, and isn't Great White that band that burned some club down and killed a bunch of people?
Yeah dude, Great White was playing at "The Station" in Rhode Island (IIRC...I do know the name's right though), & when they set off their pyro, it caught the acoustic tile things on fire....If you wanna see a scary ass video, watch the amateur video of that, I don't know what bothered me more, all the people piled up in the doorway & not being able to get out, or seeing somebody come out of a window about 3 mins into the video, totaly engulfed in flames & burning alive....There's been a lot of shit about that accident, I don't know who's legally responsible honestly, but I do know it was a terrible, terrible accident though....

Still love their music though dude, especially the "Once Bitten" album...

My sister used to like that stuff back in the 80s. She was a headbanger chick. Big bangs, slut makeup, ripped jeans, the whole thing. She liked all that super cheese 80s glam rock. Winger, Slaughter, Bullet Boys, Cinderella, Ratt, etc. She was even in a Bon Jovi video for like one nanosecond. Lol.
Sounds like your sister & me would've gotten along back in the day dude....I had all that shit too, minus the makeup....LOL....Every band you mentioned, I saw live back in the day, plus a whole lot more....I finally told my Mom a couple weeks ago that I used to sneak out of my bedroom when I lived at home, & hitchhike all the way to Johnson City TN, just to see my favorite bands back then...I asked her "you remember how hard it was to get me up for school???"....LOL...I wish I could go back in time dude, those were great days/times for me, & I really didn't even realize it...

Wow. Do the plugs fit through the hole between the pickup cavity and the control cavity? I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Great clean sound, btw.
I think they'll fit dude, honestly, I haven't really checked, I was just doing some digging to see if I could find the plugs/ends to make the p'up swap (if I ever decided to) pretty easy, while leaving my LP in tact...

No, she's a total bitch. :laughings:
LOL......I'm gonna send your V30 out in the morning dude, & I'll do the Paypal thing tonight when I get in from work...Sorry it was delayed for a week or so, but things happened that were more important to me than a speaker swap....Today makes a week dude, & it's been a tough morning for me, but, I'm hangin' in there....

Dunno if you read or not, but I'm also sending my buddy in the Marshall forum my Line 6 Guitarport, Teac mic, & a 1/4" > xlr cable, so he can get started recording without spending any $$$....He's a great guy, & sent me both Duncan Custom Custom p'ups, the last one basically just "showed up" here, he was trying to keep my mind off things by doing that....great guy...I'm still trying to convince him to join/participate in our little thread, but dunno if he will or not....We'll see, but, again, he'll be able to record in a few days & won't have to spend a cent AFAIK....

Went to play a gig last night and my Mesa Blue Angel ..... she no work! Blowed fuse ...... don't know more than that ...... sometimes they'll just blow a fuse so hopefully it's nothing that will require me to put forth any effort.

But I had no fuses and my bud had a spare Peavey Classic 50 2x12 in his truck so I used that .. and it sounded fucking awesome to my great surprise.
Never even touched the tone controls ..... set them all about the middle, turned it on ...... sounded freakin' sweet just like that ..... I was very impressed with it as much as I hate to say that 'bout a Peavey.

And Tommy Talton was still in town so he actually dropped by to sit in with us ......... cool. He wasn't as good at the " it's 'A' .... 2,3,4 " as I am though so it was a cluster.
.... he didn't stay long .....but it was flattering that he came by.

Meanwhile people bought me beer .........

also .......... I want this:

Haha that's awesome! Is that a total custom job or is it based on a production guitar?

Those are all pretty awesome. :) Where'd you find that guy?

Here's some crap tones. In the spirit of minerman's clean, which is much better than mine because I don't know clean from a hole in the ground, here's some clean from me. I tried to get the amp to not break up at all while still being pretty loud because loud is the way I roll. No EQ, reverb, processing, nuthin.

LP Traditional - Burstbucker 3 bridge split into a single coil. Vol 10, Tone 10
Marshall JVM410 - Clean channel Green mode
Gain - 1.5
Bass - 7.5
Mid - 5
Treb - 5
Master vol - 6
Marshall 1960B - G12T-75 - SM57 on axis, on grill, at cap/cone junction
The Who? Clean? Zep? No!

Same everything, 57 Classic neck p/u split into single coil. Vol 10, Tone 10
Fuck you! (We're From Texas)

And then I got bored so I kicked into a higher gear and had some fun with the Phase 90.
Burstbucker 3 bridge back to full humbucker
OD1 channel Green mode
Gain - 3
Bass - 6
Mid - 7
Treb - 6
Ch vol - 6
Master vol -5
Same cab, mic.

I've saw those guitars before, but it's been a long time...they're not something I'd want myself, but are pretty cool looking IMO....

To me, that's what a clean tone is supposed to be, no breakup at all, whatsoever....I've noticed my 'lil DSL with the LP doesn't do cleans very well....it's always got a little dirt/grit to it, no matter how I set the gain...Guess it's because I keep the volume on the amp dimed 99% of the time, & I pick pretty hard....:D....

Sounds good dude, you need to try some 'verb on these tones, just for shits-n-giggles to see what it might add to it...I remember when I learned "Over The Hills & Far Away" way back when...16 or 17 years old....damn if time don't fly...

This is about what I used to play in the first band I was in dude, standard 3 chord song, with 2-4 bass, simple as fuck....But, you'll never believe how much I improved as a player just playing that shit all the time....I actually like this clip better than the first clean one myself....again, next time 'round, add a little 'verb in the daw dude, just to see what it might add to the tone....

Ace was a big influence on me, one of the reasons I started playing guitar in the first place....This tone's thick & meaty, lots of chunk...It's amazing the tones you can get from the JVM dude, seems like a really versatile amp.....and makes me want one really, really bad too....LOL...

That guitar is rediculous haha. I am not sure if i would play it or just look at it.

Thanks for the kind words Thread-folk.

@Minerman

I follow you on soundcloud and the acoustic stuff i have been working on this year is on there. Plus scads of other unfinished crap and really old recordings from years gone by. Sorry to hear about your hard times man. At least you have your guitars to see you through it.

My issue is more writers block. I literally can't come up with lyrics or content at all. Pretty bummed out but inspiration will hit when it is ready. It's happened in the past it will happen again. In the mean time i will record some covers and junk and hone in on my playing / recording and mixing skills.

Anyway. I am pretty content with the tones i have been getting out of my Line6 lately. I think i needed to take the few months away from using it to kind jump back onto it. It helped.

Thanks man, it's been pretty hard to be honest, today makes a week my Dad's been gone, dunno if I'll ever get over it completely, guess I'll just get used to it somehow....Thanks again dude, & yes, the music's always been there for me, all my life...

Lyrics are tough sometimes, I have more problems with my vocals/singing really....I think my singing sucks, it's terrible..But, I do the best I can.....it still sucks though....LOL...

I'm fairly confident with my mixing skills, most of the time...I do have an issue here/there with it, but mostly, that comes out of me rushing to finish...patience is a big part for me, as if I get in a hurry, I'll forget to do something, or miss something that's awful....Keep pluggin' at it though dude, it'll get easier as you go....

The Line 6 ampsims are pretty good, I remember a time when that's all I used, my POD X3Live.....Keep posting tones man, your stuff sounds pretty good IMHO.....

And, I talked to my buddy, he finally registered over here, but hasn't posted yet....I think he's gonna wait until he gets the interface & mic....But, I told him we'd all pitch in & help him get rolling....I'm actually pretty excited to hear his amp myself....I've heard one clip, but IIRC, he recorded it with a hand-held thing that didn't have many options....

A few days & I'll have another speaker for my little setup, me & the Gerg worked out a deal on one of his G12-T75's, so that'll be a Greenback, V30, & T75, speaker wise...Pretty good times for me gear-wise, new guitar, another speaker, & maybe another pedal before the end of next week....:)

Those are all pretty awesome. :) Where'd you find that guy?

Someone posted the '59 Katillac on facebook. Then when you asked if it was custom or not I looked it up.
I'd play on one of those in a second!

Man ..... that's some clean clean there ..... right up my alley ..... no break up at all.
The phase 90 stuff sounds pretty good but it has a 'buzzy' quality that your clips rarely have ..... I guess it's the phaser causing that.

Thanks man. The JVM's Clean Green is pretty sparkly clean, but even set to it's cleanest, it will break up a tiny but if you dig in and pick hard. Nothing major, but I hear a hint of crunch when you bear down on it with the LP in humbucker mode. Splitting the pickup takes that out of it. It stays clean. I'll try some stuff with some reverb today. Ace is a big influence on me too. When I decided that I need to learn some basic lead kind of stuff and branched out an about inch from my usual powerchord nonsense, Ace was the guy I turned to. I only have a small handful of guitar players that I like well enough to call them an "influence". Johnny Ramone, Johnny Thunders, Angus and Ace. The Johnnys were awesome to listen to, but Johnny Ramone played no leads whatsoever, and Johnny Thunders' leads were cool but too basic even for me. Angus is awesome as well, but I can't figure out what he's doing and plays too fast for me to follow. That left Ace. His leads were attainable. I could listen to an Ace solo in the days before tabs and figure it out on my own. That was plenty enough for me. Lol. All of my leads now do sound the same though. I have no lead guitar vocabulary. I'd like to be a better lead player, I just don't know how to get there. I don't really like his music, but Slash is probably the kind of lead player I'd like to be if possible. I think his leads are impressive enough for the layman, impressive enough for me, but they don't go into full-on shred wanker territory. They're melodic and he doesn't use an assload of effects. And I like his riffs. I just don't like anything he's done after "Appetite".

I'd play on one of those in a second!
I would too. I love those quirky non-traditional guitars. I imagine they'd not be very comfortable, but fuck it. Do the tail lights light up? That would be awesome. :D

Thanks Boob. Might be the Phaser. I think I hear what you're hearing but I don't hear it in the section when I kick the phaser off (no phaser :52-1:06). I'll just chalk it up to Phasers being freaky. :D

I actually really like this Phase 90. It's phasey, but I think it's stays pretty subtle. It does it's thing without dominating the overall sound. I keep the dial around 9-10 o'clock. Anything more and the phase effect gets too fast. I like it slowed down.

yep ............ the taillights light up! :)

I like the 90 but it's too limited for me. I had an old Phase 100 that I sold back at our worst time money-wise and I really REALLY regret selling it ..... it was killer!

The way you describe the JVM's cleann green channel, sounds a lot like my 'lil DSL....It's fairly clean, until you dig in & pick hard, which I kinda like....Cool on the 'verb dude, looking forward to hearing what you come up with....

I've noticed on a lot of albums/guitar sounds lately, there's more 'verb than what one would think, even Angus & the boys have quite a bit of 'verb on their guitars....Of course, I know it's probably room mics (in a great room, with a great engineer at the controls), but still, lots of 'verb....Listen to the "For Those About To Rock" with 'phones on, just as an example....

Ace is a big influence on me too. When I decided that I need to learn some basic lead kind of stuff and branched out an about inch from my usual powerchord nonsense, Ace was the guy I turned to. :
Ace & Angus were my first guitar heroes, way back when....I too went the same route as you did, but after I got a little better, I used to sit & learn all kinds of shit...The neo-classical thing just wasn't for me to be honest though, while it's awesome just to listen & imagine how much practice it took to get that shit down, IMO, most of the songs sucked with that kind of playing in 'em....While I've got all kinds of infuences, I'd say one of my biggest influences was Mark Kendall of Great White....he kept the blues thing going (which I got into heavily as a teenager), but with a modern twist....and, most of the stuff he did, fit the song, instead of mindless noodling/shredding (which again, is awesome to listen to just as a guitar player)....

Slash is another guy who I like, but only some of his stuff...He keeps the blues thing going, but with a modern twist too...His album/cd "Slash" (with all the guest singers/players) is actually a pretty good album, IMO....I loved Appetite, saw that concert my senior year in high school (at the beginning of the school year), & nobody knew who they were...by the time I graduated the next spring, they were the biggest band in the world...LOL...His studio & live playing are very, very different though, IMO, he's pretty sloppy live....

I could type all day on guitar players that I like, but here's a short list off the top of my head:
Angus Young
Ace Frehley
Mark Kendall
Frank Hannon (Tesla)
Eddie Van Halen (I really never learned much of his stuff, but he inspired me to play at a young age)
Eric Clapton (^ like EVH, but an inspiration mainly because of the blues thing...)

Like I said, I could type all day about guitar players, but these are just off the top of my head, I'm sure I'll remember more after I post this...LOL...

Bob: I though I remembered that guitar ligting up, cool!!!!

Off to work guys, but I did get to talk to the Gerg on the phone today.....speaker swap is happenin'....he should have his 16ohm V30 Tuesday I'm guessing, & I'll have an 8ohm V30, plus a G12-T75....See you guys in about 12 hours or so....post up some toans!!!!!

Yeah man, yours is on the way. Sorry I couldn't talk more, I was elbows deep under the hood of a car.

I'm glad I can fix anything on a car, but it's also a burden. Whenever I get a phone call from someone I don't talk to very often, I know immediately that they're having car problems.

Here's some more cleans with more reverb. Lol.

Hallmark 60 Custom
Marshall JVM410 Clean channel Green mode - max amp reverb

Hallmark neck pickup, vol/tone max - same amp, cab, mic settings
Sleepwalk

Pumped in some effects again. Some Boss Tremolo TR-2 and kicked in the Boss Flanger in the middle section.

love those - Greg, that's a really good sounding reverb.

oh, and back on the topic of lowering the volume of NMV amps, I was just having a great time with the attenuator and my '71 JMP, and it sounded killer, but then I moved the dial of the attenuator a notch (from the 2 position to the 3, I think - they're detented by not marked) and the amp went silent. Turns out I blew the 1 amp fuse - I replaced it and ran the amp straight to the cab and it seems fine - whew. Of course, I assumed the worst at first. So anyway, I may not have cojones for using the attenuator with that amp, which sucks, because it really did sound good.
