JDOD: Cool clip man, that was one of my favorite songs to play live, but we didn't play it quite like your version...:) I like the wah lead myself, just shows different folks have different likes/dislikes...Good job dude, your clips are getting better!!!!

Greg: Nice board dude, back before the shitstorm called life happened, I was looking into a power supply, when I had a few pedals. Now since I only have 2, & don't use 'em that much, it just wouldn't make sense for me to have one. But, if I ever get into the pedal thing again, I'd go for something like you've got there, looks nice, neat & tidy dude...

Is that a Pedaltrain board?

Yeah it's a Pedaltrain Classic 2. I had to buy those brackets separately to mount the power supply underneath. Tad says his came with it, but mine didn't.

I made a total bonehead mistake today. I think I nuked the EQ pedal. The EQ and delay run in the amp's effects loop. No problem. Except for when you plug one of the send/return cables into a speaker jack.

Now the EQ's gain and vol sliders just blink at me, like why did you do this to me? :laughings:

I usually run my loop - Amp send > EQ input > EQ output > Delay input > Delay output > amp return.

Today I did...Amp speaker jack > EQ input > EQ output > Delay input > Delay output > amp return.

So I have the EQ pedal torn apart, looking for roasted bits and pieces. Don't see anything, but there is a faint smell of nuked electronics.

Well dude, that sucks, but at least it was only an eq pedal...

Yeah it's a bummer because it's my own fault. But in the grand scheme of things....I rarely use it anyway. Things could be worse!

I already found one of Craigslist, so I'm just waiting for the guy to respond.

Public Service Announcement - Do not plug the speaker output of a JCM 800 into an EQ pedal.

oops!!

Good thing you didn't nuke the marshall actually .... depending on how the EQ fried it could have been looking at a direct short.

Lol. Well the amp was already hooked to a cab.

See, what had happen was, I had the JCM 800 on and hooked up. All was well. I was connecting the cables to the fx loop on the JVM in preparation of switching to the JVM which is underneath the 800. So I hooked the fx loop return cable to the JVM first, and grabbed the send cable and hooked it up to the open speaker jack on the 800 for some goofball reason. Total brainfart. Not only did I plug it into the wrong jack, it was also the wrong amp!

Damn Greg, glad you didn't fry anything more valuable than a pedal! Like your hands!

Oh and speaking of brain farts, here's a vaguely tone-related tidbit. I messed up a project render yesterday when rendering to a quick and dirty MP3. I accidentally set the sample rate to 96kHz instead of 44.1. So my fast song came out as this slow, sludgy fucked up thing that sounds like something off of a Swans or Suuns record :D

At least all of my MP3 players play this back reeeeaaaaallllly slowly. Maybe yours handles it better and plays at normal speed. Strangely enough I kind of like this better than what I intended to render. Sorry it's 6 minutes long, it's 1/2 the speed of the 3 minute original. By 30 seconds in, you get the idea...Basically this is what a JCM800 sounds like on a heavy dose of barbiturates.

Greg, I though about mentioning something in the amp maybe being hurt, but wasn't sure myself.....As usual, 'Ol Bob chimed in with the correct info I was wondering about...:thumbs up:

Tad: Wow man...trippy sounding, reminds me of a lo-fi Sabbath tune...:)

Lol. Well the amp was already hooked to a cab.
obviously you didn't hurt the amp or you'd have said so.

But just for tech info ..... had that pedal fried into being a direct short, being hooked to a cab wouldn't have saved the amp .... from the amp's standpoint, everything would have gone to the short ...... poof ... magic smoke!
But prolly the EQ ended up being an open which would have made zero difference to the amp ... that would be the same as not having anything plugged into that jack

Yeah the amp is fine. Already checked it.

I had the 800 all hooked up and had just played it. I put it on standby and was about to turn it off when I started routing the JVM's fx loop cables to the board. I plugged it all up as I'd mentioned earlier and flipped the 800 off standby to play it a little more. As soon as I flipped it off standby I heard this loud as fuck woooooowoooo like a cop car siren. I immediately flipped it back on standby an started wtf'ing. I noticed the EQ pedal blinking, which means it's clipping, or in this case, it's been clipped to death, and then looked behind the amps and found the problem.

Just a boneheaded brainfart. I have too many amps! :laughings:

that's actually a bit of a shame 'cause that MXR's a pretty nice EQ ...... but, had it happened to me ..... I'd have mostly thought it was funny as shit while calling myself a dumbass!

Cheers miner. I'm please with that one.

Greg, that's hilarious! I have you opened it up and tried to perform any surgery? Or can you send it back and claim it wasn't working when you got it?

Yeah I've taken it apart. I can solder and replace obviously burnt parts, but I'm not seeing anything obvious. I don't have a scope or the knowledge to diagnose this thing. I can't return it. I've had it for years and don't even remember where I got it. I'll just get another one. No big deal.

Been watching a lot of Glastonbury on the BBC - basically every act on every stage is filmed, broadcast and available on the BBC webiste.

Do you guys get access to any of that? Its fucking great.

I'm not sure. I have like 10 BBC channels on my TV, and I don't think I've ever watched any of them.

Ah, it's a pretty cool function to just be able to browse through all the acts and have a whole live set available. Even the smaller acts and the smaller stages are there as well as small BBC session type performances.

Just watching Muse's set, I know you won't like their totally over the top theatrical prog rock, but they sound good and they're doing a good set.
