Greg,

Did you record any tones with that crybaby yet?
Can we hear it?

I put some up in the top secret section. It sounds like ass sammich.
Yeah he did. I don't slag Gerg-toan lightly (or ever really) but ass sammich pretty well covers it. Obviously something wrong with the pedal. Crybabies aren't supposed to sound like that thing.

OK, somebody PLEASE talk me out of getting one of these.

Good tone.

Sam,
You don't really want that fellow; he wears a hat indoors, thinks he has E.S.P. on top of which he seems to be the slow, sensitive type & has a droopy thing.
Thanks Lt Bob, I went down stairs eventually & checked - you're correct. DM's they are & I still have a set plus a 1 doz box or Ernie Slinkies. As someone who changes strings at needs (ie: when thet break), I think I'm set for life & the hearafter - I might intro Walt to my DM's.

There's either something wrong with it, or it's just voiced that way, which sucks. It is a "Dimebag" wah afterall, and as far as I'm concerned, he had one of the shittiest guitar tones ever. It wouldn't surprise me if his sig wah is one of the shittiest ever too. :laughings:

Amen. And if you ever come across an RMC wah, I have one and they are good. There are a lot of good-sounding wahs out there, but these are still hand made in the USA by a small group of tone geeks.

I think I want something more "vintage" like a Vox or an original CryBaby. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a good ol regular ol wah. I didn't pay for the Dimebag piece of shit, thank God. The Dimebag wah was free so I took a shot. Lol @ Dimebag and take a shot. Anyway, it will be going on Craigslist pretty soon.

And speaking of metal tones, and I generally hate metal, I think it might have been Pantera that ushered in the really shitty soulless tone of modern metal. I'm not sure, but I think I remember Pantera being like the big change in how metal sounded. 80's thrash and hair glam was pretty bad, but at least the guitars had tone and a musicality to their aggression. Then bands like Pantera came along and the chugga chugga just turned into a mash of gain and fizz. Now modern metal guitar seems to be about as toneless as you can get. Metal sucks.

And didn't Dime use solid state amps?
That might be part of it ...... I think he used some solid state Randall amp .... I may be wrong so someone go look that up.

As for wahs .... from what I've read, the wah I'd check out is the BBE. Everything I've read about it describes it as being very vocal sounding and that's what the originals did. I've also read the same about the Bud Wah by Buddah but it's a lot more than the BBE.
I consider the 'vintage' wah sound to be where it sounds like someone's talking. For me, the very best wah sound ever is Hendrix on the very begininning of 'Still Rainin', still Dreaming'. You feel like you can almost hear a voice in there and that's what I want out of a wah.

I tried to do some clips with my talkbox last night ..... just for laughs. I tried to do a 'Vaginasauras rex thing ...... but it all sounded like crap and then I lost interest. (Playing a LOT right now).. If I'm wound up after my gig tonight I may take another shot at it although now that I've revealed the joke (Vagina ..... Vaginasaurus Rex ) I probably won't bother with that ..... it's hard to get that word out intelligibly with a talkbox unfortunately. :(

I think he did at first, but later moved to tube Krank amps, or something like that.

Lol! Try again, please. :D

Finally gonna pull the trigger on an extension cab for my amp. After looking for a couple/few months, I've decided on buying an EVH 1x12, with a Celestion Heritage 30 speaker. Should be here this sometime this weekend, just in time for my week of vacation. I do still plan on buying another cab (or two, maybe) with Greenback/Vintage 30 eventually. And, I'm still planning on buying another amp head (or three :D) eventually too....Stoked about the cab!!!!!!

As of this morning, the recording at the church is gonna happen too, next Thursday. My nephew is supposed to have all his gear there, waiting for me when I get there. I'm kinda nervous about loading my computer & other stuff into my vehicle, but I suppose it'll be ok, as long as I don't drive like I'm on the way to work....:laughings:

Thanks, Ray.
It was close, but I think you helped me turn the corner. :laughings:

That church recording sounds like fun.
Anybody know; what are my options for a 1x12 extension cab loaded with a greenback.
All I've found online so far is a vox night train cab.

Actually that EVH cab with the Heritage looks like just the ticket...
Thanks minerman.

lol, I guess that explains why you don't like my tone that much.

No, I think I'm usually pretty objective when it comes to analyzing what I hear. I don't let personal feelings get in the way of giving feedback. If I didn't like your tone, that's because I thought there was something wrong with it, not just because it was metal.

Randall RV112GB Guitar Speaker Cabinet at AMS

I almost bought this, but decided on the Heritage 30. Eventually, I'll have a Greenback cab too.....

You might wanna try Avatar cabs too Sam, they have some pretty good deals, & you can get whatever speaker you want loaded for ya........

so are there any tombs or what? i went through 4 pages and no tombs.

The vid is funny. He spend more time explaining his set up than playing. Yet when he does play it's as underewhelming as a Big Mac straight from the microwave.
