Hi I got a noisy Tascam 688.

First of all, there is some hum of significant volume that according to searches done on this forum comes from the motor. Anybody with the same problem experiencing this hum ending up recorded to tape?

Secondly, there is some hiss/buzz/fizzle/static noise coming from the unit. A tiny bit when all gain is down to zero. More when it's turned up. There is also more noise when pushing the buttons on the monitor panel. Especially Monitor Cue and Dual. Quite important buttons that will be in use I'd say.. Using the gainknobs wisely, I can listen to old recordings without noticing the noise when the music plays I think. Difficult to tell, as the recording was done with a lot of distorted guitars, and on a unit not working 100%.

Anybody who has managed to resolve a similar problem?
Both headphone inputs got the same amount of noise. The tapeplayer itself do not seem to generate any noise. It works okay I think. The noise seems to be somewhere else in the system/mixer as it's there while the tape isn't playing.

I will try to do some more testing, recoding something and exporting using the stereooutput.

Update:
Did a bit of recording. The noise seems to be consistent, tape playing or not. I can't hear the the hum from the motor on the tape either I think. Did not have the possibility to try if there is still noise after exporting it using the master-out yet.
