For all we know, the SP mics are designed primarily by Studio Projects personnel, and only built by 797. So until we know who designed the mics, it's absurd to assign credit for the design.

When did I say they were designed by 797?

Aren't designing and making them two different things? I must be missing somethin' :D

WTF do you know?

I know the mic says 797 Audio on it, and it's good! :D You should try it!

BTW -- You suppose Simon & Shuster ever thought of getting in to the microphone biz? I'd bet they'd rawk ! ! ! RAWK ! ! !

I just think it's a lot quicker and easier to call it the SP B1. :)

I don't think that you did, but DJL said something to that effect earlier when he said

".. and not only does 797 Audio make the Studio Projects mic's for PMI, 797 Audio designed the Studio Projects mic's for PMI (along with Alan Hyatt's input... or so says Alan). IMO, I think 797 Audio deserves more credit."

DJL is somewhat accurate about the B1. I recall Alan stating that the B1 was designed by both 797 and SP personnel. What Alan did not state was exactly how much was done by whom. And I don't recall him ever saying that the C1 and its progeny were designed by anyone other than SP personnel.

To me it's all beside the point ... which I think is the point of most folks responding to DJL. What's the difference where the mic comes from or who made it or whatever? As end-users our bread and butter is in what the mic sounds like. AND if the manufacturer and designer and place of origin or manufacture DO matter then why not be fair and state all these essential facts for every mic or gear that you discuss? If such a thing would seem absurd, then I suppose my point is proven about DJL's real intentions (which is no big secret to regulars around here ... but may be unknown to new posters, making such diatribes like this all to common and necessary whenever he starts up with the SP crap cloaked in quasi-innocence and truth telling.)

You're right - it was DJ that said that.

I think 797 Audio should get more credit, because they make some good mics, like the B1....

Uhhh, then what is it they deserve more credit for? Oh, I see - assembling the mics. Or, maybe I'm missing something.:)

Alright, then, Doc. Why don't you go and assemble a gazillion mics a day, stamp different names on them and send them off to different companies . . . and work for what amounts to be a third-world country wage. :D

And put up with a bunch of picky Americans harping on you over Quality Control all the time.

I see that DJL has gone off his medication again.

Rain Man returns!!!!!

And it's good to see chessrock jumping back on the soapbox, to protect us from ourselves!

There's a reason I don't frequent this forum very often any more...

Why do you have a problem with the 797 Audio Studio Projects B1 mic being called a 797 Audio Studio Projects B1 mic?

I have a problem with you calling the the 797 Audio Studio Projects B1 by that name, for the reasons I have stated numerous times.

Well I have a problem with people calling Kraft Macaroni & Cheese . . . Kraft Cheese & Macaroni, so I feel your pain, Fresh Matty.

I have a problem with that.

Why must you insist on calling it that, Doc? Your personal vendetta against the Kraft company and their board of directors is so transparent and obvious.

This board used to be cool untill you cheese&macaroni people started taking over. Now it sucks.

I think I'm going to go cry now.

Humm, well the name on the mic says "797 Audio / Studio Projects B1".

And... IMO, the 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1 and Marshall Electronic MXL990 both suck as main vocal mic's.

Yeah, well, the next time you try an SP B1 on your vocal track, pull your head out of your ass and it'll sound MUCH better!

Customer service good. Product good. Spam=bad. Spam=bad. Spam=bad.

I'll admit that I don't stay glued to these baords at all times....but to tell you the truth I never really read anything allen wrote that i consider spaming.

he mostly answered questions about his mics. When asked the difference in his mics and other mics, he answered the questions.
The moderater recieved complaints about alan spamming (from the same people over and over again). He read all the post's in question and said it wasn't spam.

Alan wasn't run off the site because he was spamming. He just left because of the numerous personal attacts on him from the same 3 or 4 people. He couldn'
t make a post without being attacted personally.

Its a shame, because alan, harvey, and stephen paul are pros and have alot of knowledge to share about recording in general. They all 3 have left now and I don't blame them.

I guess the amature "know it all" types felt threatend.

I had to eat Cheese and Macaroni every day for dinner when I was a kid, and Campbell's Bacon with Bean soup for lunch. So when I see these product names, something snaps and I go ballistic, at times even reversing the order of the names.

Please accept my heartfelt apology.

Maybe because you don't call Marshall and MXL mics "Felio MXL 990 or Felio Marshall V67G" mics.

Felio makes 'em. Or doesn't that standard hold true for anything that doesn't say "Studio Projects" on it?

At least Alan has the sack to put 797 Audio right on the mic.

That's because you don't stay glued to these boards much.

The moderater recieved complaints about alan spamming (from the same people over and over again). He read all the post's in question and said it wasn't spam.

You missed the last round. In fact, that instance was pretty obvious to a duck he was on a spammapalooza, so Slackmaster got involved and called it the duck it was.

I think the last straw was when Sonusman jumped in to the foray and insulted Harvey and Alan . . . which resulted in both of them putting on their skirts and flying away like a coupla' fairy canaries.

In the end, everyone just blamed it on me -- nothing new there.

That's because it was your fault :D ... either that or DJL. :p

I've been glued to these boards for too damn long now. You guys are more addictive than professional wrestilng!!!!

Agreed. And as soon as certain people post now, I just move on to another thread...
