that's right--it just takes practice. the notion that people are born with perfect pitch is proven bullshit.

i can whistle while you hold a tuner to my face, and it will read "A," dead-on. i can tune an A-string with the same result, and then use harmonics for the rest. never mind that it took more than a decade to burn that single note into my memory.

tuning forks are great, so long as they're kept outta the hands of mouthbreathers who bang them on tabletops.

i only detune to play along with my accordion, which has its own idea of pitch (anybuddy who calls me a nerd is itchin' for a fight). also, i'm too dumb to figure out how to use the "pitch shift" functions on my software and my zoom.
