IDK. Two days of preparation, big production, all the bells and whistles.
He talks for about 15+ minutes then a quick rope line meet and greet then he is gone.

One thing that is different as of with current events....
There usta be only about 10+- secret service agents - I counted 30 that were visible.

Yeah. I worked on an event with Clinton a few years back--in the gap between the 2000 election and the inauguration he came to the UK and did a speech with Tony Blair. The amount of prep work (I was on site for two full days) was amazing--we were providing a pool feed of video and audio to the UK and American nets and also live streaming it on the web.

Does the VPOTUS work the same way as the POTUS where White House Radio provide the actual mics used by the President? Two battered SM57s fed via an even more battered Shure mini mixer and distribution amps giving everyone a split. Frankly, it sounded pretty crap compared to the "better" mics we used everywhere else (there were choirs and lectures in the lead up to Blair and Clinton).

Still, it was fun as we had our cameras live when they booted everyone out of the theatre and did a sweep with dogs and could see just how pampered the sniffer dogs were, including food and water breaks!

Yes 57's on the podium but I have my own presidential set of nice 57's. :thumbs up:

The advance team audio guy (department of Defense) ... who sets up two minidisc recorders and a live feed through the telephone line to be archived ... messes with the 57's until he is satisfied. Moving the windscreen screws to the bottom of the microphone, black sharpie on non-black pieces, move the 45 degree angled microphone cables so they are pretty.
Then I swear at least an hour to an hour and a half sound check - for one microphone! Granted there are two but one is for a backup.

I know Bob during the sweep it's very intense. The situation seem as though they could escalate very easily and quickly for they do mean business. Then it's all cool till the secret service human shields show up.

The music that has to be played is also a hoot. The VPOTUS intro music was Bruce Springsteen's *We take care of our own*. Musta had something to do with the fact that the event was sponsored by the Teamsters local 633.

For a second I thought this was some kind of The Presidents of the USA cover band and was then disappointed. :(

Funny thing is right after Romney I do Steven Wright. :D

Spending 12+ hours setting up for Obama to be in Manchester NH ... then a 12+ day on Thursday running the live mix, the feeds to the press and white house audio archive. I'll be driving back with only one eye open.
