:D :D :D How did you miss that ? :D :D :D
James, if you go to their site, only a "demo" of VSampler 3 beta version is available (no save function). The FAQ says the full version of Vsampler 3 is expected to be released 3rd quarter 2003.

However, they do indicate that some beta testers got a free registration key for 3.0, so I guess it's possible that some people have it.

The free registration key - and I believe it's limited to the Release Candidate version of VS3 - was issued to those people who rigorously tested and posted bug reports on the two VS3 forums.

It may have been possible to request a key from the software authors. I didn't bother because I was more of a casual user at that time. IIRC the final released version will retail for around 183 Euros.

The downloadable version is RC4, but there is an RC7 being tested by the folks with registration keys.

I have the beta version of Vsampler. Really just wanted the defining differences in the versions which CWMarketingGuy provided. Thanks.

I think you need another upgrade though. People who already have Ultrafunk 3.0 need a less costly version without those plugins if they are not critically encorporated in the final product of Sonar. They were almost $300 and I hate paying for the same thing twice.

CWMarketingGuy I wanna know...

I want to use sonar 3 with my Tascam DM24. Currently Sonar 2 is only able to interface in a limited capacity. Sonar2 does not transmit midi song position. I want to use the DM24 automation because it's just so easy when it comes to mixing. In order to do that I have use SMPTE and it's generally a pain to deal with synching. Will sonar 3 transmit and receive midi song postion? Not MTC. If it does then my prayers are answered.

Thanks, RD

I see. Well, a less costly upgrade for UF owners would be to SONAR Studio, but then you'd be passing up on all the other goodies I mentioned: Vsampler3, Lexicon Pantheon Reverb, Console EQ/assignable controls, sample libraries...

That said, all registered Ultrafunk customers will automatically become Cakewalk customers, and will qualify for Cakewalk customer discounts. So, I don't think we're shafting anyone here. :)

Hear, Hear!

I wouldn't mind the "other goodies" but they aren't enough, in and of themselves, to make me spring for the "producer" version when I already own the Ultrafunk suite.

I'll get the "Studio" version if I decide to upgrade.

An "Ultrafunk owners edition" of the "producer" version might entice me.... if it was priced accordingly.

I think you missed the point. I want the producer version but feel that I have paid double this year for the ultrafunk plug ins. Just looking for a little consideration here. Not trying to corrupt your marketing model.

Maybe you should offer a producer version for those that already have the Ultrafunk suite. Now that would be a step focused on customer satisfaction and win you a few more dollars over those who opt for the studio version because they already have Ultrafunk . I'm not saying your shafting anybody, in fact I have a long history of postive customer experience ever since the 12 tone days from Cakewalk.

Maybe a $179 price for producer for users of Sonar 2.0 that already made the jump to Ultrafunk.

AW - Cakewalk,

Question re Sample Rate Export.

Will SONAR be able to dither (is that the correct term for sample rate) the sample rate down to 44.1 from say 48 on export, or will it still only do just the bit rate?

One thing that I have always advocated for and strongly believe is that SONAR should have a built in spectrum analyzer per track. That, IMHO would benefit us that use Sonar a TON!!!! It would be so awesome to have even a crappy little spectrum analyzer that you could click on for every track and "see" what frequencies you are hearing on that specific track for boosting, cutting, making sure they don't interfere with the other tracks etc etc etc etc... BTW, I LOVE SONAR and love the way the new one looks. As soon as I save up a little money (IMO SONAR 3 is not THAT expensive for what it'll do for me) I'll purchase it!!!
KUDOS to cakewalk for what they are doing!!!

Volume curve bug fixed yet in piano roll?

Anyone know if the volume curve bug is fixed yet in Sonar 3?
TOO many times have i drawn a volume curve (in the piano roll view) only to later open up the same clip finding that what i had drawn is not there (only by opening up the event window can it be edited, manually). This can be VERY time consuming and tedious. The 'midi pictures' can be seen with the volume curve in it yet when you double click on the picture the volume curve is 'invisible' in the piano roll view. The curve is there, just invisible.
So, does anyone know if this ancient bug has been fixed yet???
I've found nothing on the features list on Cakewalk's Sonar 3 page.

I was wondering if you Cakewalk gurus have taken my wish and implemented Input Monitoring for tracks even if they're not armed?

In other words: Is it possible for two guitars to play together using Input Monitoring and just record one of them?

Yes, SONAR 3 will have this. Input monitoring is not linked to recoding and can be toggled on/off per track

Okay, that was it for me. I need the new Console and I need Input Monitoring for unarmed tracks! WHOHO! :D

OK, fair enough. I understand where you're coming from. Logistically, I think it'd be less trivial for us to accomate that kind of arrangement, but I'll pass along your suggestion.

My point was simply that if you were a previously registered Ultrafunk customer, but brand new to the SONAR family, you'd qualify for a discount on SONAR 3, as a new Cakewalk customer.

Previous SONAR customers obviously get the upgrade price.

Thanks for all your info and support. One more request from us the Cakewalk forumist of HR.Com BBS, would you kindly put this forum as one of Cakewalk online resource in SONAR 3 manual ?

No, you don't have to put my name on the credit... :D :D :D

Just add this site/forum to the manual -section online resource- will be good idea :)

Hey! Hey! Over here! (waving hand in the air)

AW- Cakewalk or CW MarketingGuy,

I asked beore and got no response so I'll try again before it slips into oblivion. Sonar 2 can only transmit MTC but could not send or receive song postion. Is Sonar 3 able to do this? Will it be able to transmit song postion?

Furthermore, I want to interface it as much as possible with my Tascam DM24 mixing console. Will there be a Control Surface configuration specifically for the DM24? I would love to be able to arm tracks directly from my console. The current generic control surface tool has limited use. For the life of me I cannot configure fast-foward no matter how hard I try. PLAY, REC, REWIND, JOG all work okay. Go figure.

Thanks, RD

I wish they would import this forum as an official cakewalk forum with moderators from the company, rather than the newsgroups which are a nightmare to navigate through.

I don't think that's gonna happen, but I'm totally behind the suggestion.

But for now, I support James:
