All I hear about on 10 different forums is people wanting the Logic-like freeze function and then someone giveing them a 25 step process of how to achieve it.

What exactly are we talking about here?

And, how come the Cakewalk folks just dont implement it considering the huge amount of desire for that particular function?

Excuse me but I am unfamiliar with logic (as a man, I hate to admit that) what is the freeze function?

Cheers, RD

It's kind of like when you finally throw away that twelve year old pair of sneakers that you just could'nt part with. You're a little sad,but you know in the end ,it's for the better.:o ;)
What are you talking about?!? Don't you see that now even more people will use the Console View!

I win! :D

The Freeze Function is (quickly explained) a way to bounce the effects/instruments to disk, letting your CPU work with other things. If you need to tweak a setting of the effect or instrument, you just unfreeze it, make the change and freeze it back again. Every setting is remembered, so there's no need to manually bounce and archive tracks... :)

Looks good! The Ultrafunk plugs alone are worth the price of admission. Channel eq by Ultrafunk as well..... hmmm, this could be great!

The one feature I've been screaming for that I don't see listed is "soft punch." Some kind of fast (let's say 3-5ms) auto crossfade when you punch in. THAT would save me some time.

Other than that, it looks very promising.... including the plugin delay compensation.... maybe I'll take another look at the UAD-1.

what are PDR dropouts

This sounds like a specific sort of drop out with a known cause? What does pdr stand for?

Since upgrading to 2.2 I started to get some weird behavior with drop outs and even lock ups - I have not spotted any pattern to point to a cause. I am meaning to try the aud.ini - been too busy making music.

Also, from what I have read elsewhere, for lexicon to allow their name on a software product - it has to be pretty damn good. I had heard that this was happened with the PSP delay that is out there - and that plug in is awesome. So I am pretty excited by the fact that Sonar will include a reverb with the Lexicon name.

He he he.....

Even the console-haters, gotta admit: That's a beautiful console! :D

Thanks, AW! Finally will all the "not use console"-loosers love it! :p

Maybe I'm missing something, but with the level meters vertical, how the hell are you supposed to keep an eye on the levels of lots of tracks at once, when you have them near-minimised. The level meter will be about 5mm high!

Hmm...This is a very good point. Could be one of those 'little' items that seems at first just a 'mater of taste' but...???
I'm really liking them horizontal in the track view. Something to check out.

You use the new beautiful Console View... ;)

Maybe they'll let you set up that track view window how you like it set. Who knows? That would be nice.

Apparently Sonar 3 supports skins! :)

I just hope that the Transport is dock-able...

You use the Transport? Dude.... whats wrong with you...

I hope we can choose between vertical and horizontal meters in the track view, if not, thats fucked up.

Cakewalk is too spontaneous here, they sould keep us going a little better...

Transport makes it feel like you are using an actual Mixing desk... I mostly use the short cut keys, but sometimes it's nice to have that Transport Control's sitting on the second screen :D

I'm guessing no more than you, but it would still be nice to have it around and not letting it messing up my screen arrangement... ;)

You can choose to have your meters displayed horizontally or vertically.

There we have it.

It seemed impossible to me that they wouldn't have done something about that anyway. Only one person said something about that in this thread, but that's what those software testing people do...figure out what's wrong. Certainly some people that tested this made an immediate comment about the meter issue if it hadn't been implemented already. It would have been noticeable right away to those beta-testers, wouldn't you think? I imagine also that it was never even an issue...that they would know to make this one of the features instinctively.

Now, skins I wouldn't even really care about. They can look cool, but I don't bother with stuff like that.

Holy wow.

Hmm.. Let's think here...

Upgrade from Sonar 2 XL - $179 (Save $540)

Sonar 2 XL - $399

Isn't that like saving a free $140? If I go this way and then upgrade, will it just be like a software patch or will I get the book and everything?

You'll get the book and the full version of the program on CD with the upgrade.

By doing it this way, you also get the 2.2 XL plug-ins that are not included in SONAR 3 : The fxpansion Dr-008, and Sonic Timeworks Timeworks EQ & CompressorX
