Sm57 Help! Ripped Off On E-bay

I bought a 57 used on e-bay and it doesn't have very much volume next to my 58 .I've been told it should be just as loud as the 58. The plastic over the top of the capsule is partially loose will it help if I glue this down with crazy glue or some kind of glue? I'm not talking about the top I'm talking about the thin sheet off plastic that's stretched acrosss the capsule.Also when I got it the wires were loose inside.There are 3 wires inside, is the black one supposed to be hooked up? Mine isn't ,can someone open their 57 and tell me if all 3 wires(YELLOW,BLACK,GREEN) are hooked up I can't tell from the SHURE WEBSITE. Please help me( RIPPED OFF ON E-BAY).I have 58's ,SPB1's,MXL 990's too ,it just pisses me off to have this Mic sitting around here doing nothing.

that "thin sheet of plastic" is the diaphragm. it should be loose, as it's movement produces the sound. if it is ripped, or not connected to the rest of the capsule, then it is mostly finished.

as for the wiring, if one of the wires is not connected, that could account for the signal seeming to be quieter. if i remember correcly, the yellow is hot, black is cold, and green is ground.

All of the wires should be connected

Yes, it sounds like one of the wires worked its way loose, which would account for the volume cutting in half. Solder it back together, and away you go!
