The norm when tracking vocals with a backing track (such as karaoke) would be to wear "closed back" headphones so as not to have any of the backing track music be heard and recording by the microphone. Some singers will have only one ear cup of the headphone over an ear to help hear themselves with an ear that is not covered.

Might be available for your version....
Where is Movie Maker in Windows 10? - Windows Help -

Look at this one also. It does have a Windows installer.....
OpenShot Video Editor
I can see what you are saying about the one cuff improving recording quality but I can still see the cold infection effect of singing like one ear is still full of water after the baths

BTW I tried both links you provided before, a while ago and the windows link gave me a program available for use so long as you sing in with your MSN account; which I do not have one
And the open shot; I could never get it to install

As I remember think I tried that program and it was a free 30 or something days trail
Could never work out how to get it to work though
Dose it work with video recording?

I don't use it, so I don't know about whether or not it does video.

I'm pretty sure that Reaper comes with extensive help files, a manual and an entire community of people that would love to help you with it.

The free trial is indefinite. It doesn't stop after 30 days.

With all these things not working for you, I wonder whether that's an omen saying, "don't do it". Maybe your role in life is to be the mechanic that you are good at.

There are ways of producing high quality sounds quite economically . . . but they do require an investment. An investment in money, obviously, but also an investment in time spent learning your craft and developing your skills and experience.

I dont quite understand what you are saying
At first you say give up as you are no good at it then you say I need to spend time and money at it for it to work
Well if someone told me which equipment I need to buy then I might be getting somewhere
regards to spending time, What do you think I am doing hear!

Let me try to make it simple. Even with the best equipment, putting a mic in front of a pair of speakers and recording the music is never going to sound like a good recording. However, the mic and speakers in a typical laptop are about as far from the best equipment as you can get. The speakers are small, quiet and tinny and the mic has a limited frequency range and dynamic range, designed for Skype calls not music recording.

What you need:

A good microphone. There are hundreds to chose from. We'd need to know more about your needs to recommend them but that's easy.

An audio interface. It's a way to plug the above microphone into your computer, bypassing the horrendously bad sound card computers contain as standar.

A DAW and/or Video editing software. Again, lots to choose from depending on budget.

Somebody with a camera to record you once you have the recordings in place. Even an iPhone (held sideways) will be better quality than a webcam in a computer as long as the light is okay.

Now, are you for real or just winding us up with the topic?

Hire a professional.

I second this motion!

You don't have the right equipment. You don't know what you need, or how it works. You can't seem to get software to work.

If karaoke is your hobby, not recording or video editing, then there is little point to making the investment in equipment or the time it will take to overcome the learning curve. It will cast less money and time to simply hire someone who does this for a living (or a hobby).

If you plan on making a video every week for the rest of your life, it might be worth the trouble to learn how, but if you aren't, it isn't worth it.

Fourth post in this thread gave you an answer:

What the best equipment is is determined by the quality you want to achieve and the budget you have.

What are you doing the filming with?

Were I to do what you want fairly economically, I would buy a USB microphone and a decent set of headphones and down load Audacity (which is a audio recording program).

I would load the karaoke track into Audacity onto the laptop, play it, and record me singing along to it.

I would video that.

Then I would mix the recording on Audacity, and replace the video audio with the new mixed audio.

But I give you full marks for your skillful trolling. You may be clueless about recording, and in fact, tool-less, but you've mastered the art of the inconsequential diversions.

:D

I was chomping at the bit to make the clueless-tooless connection earlier....thank you. :thumbs up:

You know...I love to help newbs...most of us here do, and we sometimes go OUT OF OUR WAY to get them on the right path and help them sort out their problems...
...but I really don't get these types of newbs:
"I know absolutely NOTHING about recording, don't want to spend any money on it, I just want to download freebies, and no matter how dumb that may seem or my goals, or how insurmountable my problems, I expect someone here to explain everything to me, to make it work, and under my terms and my budget."

Really...if you can't get it together or have any kind of budget to do what you want (or what you think you want)...maybe it's time to move on, find another hobby.

Fuckyou and fuck you all

You mean "here" not "hear". As in, you are here and we hear you.

It's never nice being suspected or accused of being a troll but on an internet forum, where plenty of people thing trolling is great fun, it really is on the new member to prove otherwise.

Post #31 is not the way to do that.

Go to a karaoke forum and let them tell you how to record your video.
