Doesn't sound like sour grapes to me. What Cary is saying is that there were more than just 2 of us that broke the rules. I'm sure the ones that did it know who they are. And as he pointed out, he's stated this before.
 
Part of of the problem seems to be the mixed signals being sent. If you go back to PMC #5 and listen to Blue Bear's entry you will hear that he edited out the snare during the first verse. Instead of being disqualified the judges kissed his big blue ass and crowned him king. I'm not sticking up for the people that edited their mixes because the rules were clearly stated. I'm just wondering why the rules seem to apply differently depending on a persons status.

Bryan spelled the 'no mutes' rule out very clearly on this contest. I think if that was stated for PM5, I would have definately been listening for it.

I don't think there is a case for the rules being different for different people. The rules just got a whole lot stricter on PMC#6.

I thought that the "No Mutes" rule fell within these boundaries.

Personally, I don't read "No altering of material" as "No mutes". This is getting to the point of beating a dead horse. But, you could go to the extreme and interpret "No altering of material" to mean, no EQ, Compression, etc., and that is certainly not what is meant by not altering the material. I really don't think muting a track is altering.

Well put. :)

If I was getting paid to mix, and the producer said 'leave all the tracks intact", I would understand that completely.

For this exercise, I personally don't think it mattered. There are mixes (with missing parts) that sounded far better than the ones with all the stuff in place.

There is the problem. When people need to "interpret" the rules you will always have confusion.

Absolutely right. Let's try to put this back into perspective though. This was supposed to be a simple, FRIENDLY mix contest. Much like a friendly "pick-up" game of ball. This is not an official contest where we need to have lawyers draw up the rules and regulations. There isn't a big prize or anything like that. Giles said no muting, therefore there should be no muting. Personally, I have no problem with muting. I actually would have preferred to see more of it.

So which one of you posted the "What an asshole" comment to try and destroy my reputation. If you have something to say at least be man enough to post it here for everyone to read. If you don't agree with me say it to my face. I did not post anything that was untrue so I don't understand why you feel the need to belittle me.

Well it wasn't me, but personally I'm not to crazy about your "kissing blue bears" ass comment. All three of us decided that his mix was the winner and anyone else would have also.

When my "Rep Power" went down to 0 I found that comment in my "latsest reputation" section of the User CP.
I don't mind if someone thinks that I am an asshole as long as they are honest and tell me directly.

Anyway, can I just say to everybody - QUIT YER BITCHIN!

This is supposed to be fun, and a learning excercise. I for one hadn't had much chance to hone my skills with a lot of the types of material we have been given to use. In fact, I was a total newbie when these contests started. Thru these contests, my quality has gone up dramatically (not that it couldn't go anywhere but up - lol) Everybody putting these on is VOLUNTEERING their time to do so, and all they get is grief. I have noticed that a lot of the judging is subjective - music is just that way. Some people like things one way, others don't. With one judge, your at their whim. Is that a bad thing? Hell no - every one of us has our tastes, and would basically judge the same way. The three judge thing does balance things out.

Anyway, thanks to all those that have been involved - contributors, judges, hosts, and contestants.
