And I think I judged his correcting for the mastering. :) Basically if it is loud, i turn my volume down and relisten. I listend to all the mixes at about 74-78dbA

i know, but maybe bluebear and guitarhunny did not which could explain why they gave it the top place with such a big margin (19 poits above the second place from bluebear), and you had put it down to the 6th place. :)

I agree also, now convert to an MP3 and your mix sounds like ASS, but........I just can't help myself. Maybe there's a 12 step program for limiter abuse. Anyway, if the judges compensate for volume, which I believe they all did, the advantage should go to the more dynamic mix.

your mix was great anyway and i agree with the judges it was the best one, even totally squashed as it was ;) badchi, i just would have liked to listen to your mix before "mastering". :)

Dude, this is supposed to be fun and a learning experience. Nobody's questioning your mix or score.

Ok. Ok. Back to our regular prgramming. Are these files rendering or not or is it a small group of people having trouble. i can always put up the non zipped files. but the avg adds about 15MB to the download.

Bryan, I am downloading the file... but the servers seems extremely slow... give it a 15 min. and I will reply, I will try it in sonar and audition again.

thx

Thanks tenkas. i guess tons are hitting my slow connection. Wish i had that wide pipeline :)

no problem with that mate you're totally right in that this is a great and fun learning experience and i wasn't questioning your mix or score, i just used your mix as an example. (read my post above).

i really think your mix was the best :) , i was just trying to make the point of comparing mastered to unmastered mixes without volume matching them first, and used the scores as an example of the impact of a mastered mix, i think i didn't made myself clear and i'm sorry :(

and back to the current post (sorry giles) i will try the files and let you know.

No sweat, if you were here I'd give you a hug. Happy Mixing! :D

Right on Giles, this should be fun, Dld'n right now.

Peace.

i just downloaded Ad-Lib.wav's zip file and i didn't have any problems to import it in vegas 4.0, or soundforge i'm downloading LdDbl.wav right now to check it out.

No dice with the unzipped file. It crashes Audition and won't load into Sonar.

Still crashes audition and doesn't load in sonar (the non zip)

strange... but it plays in winamp perfectly

I downloaded ad-lib.wav.zip Wouldn't play in Windows Media player and it also crashed Adobe. Couldn't load it in Cubase either (before someone asks they are legal copies of software :D )

Ok Linear PCM, 16 bit, 48k Can you guys handle an AIFC File? Or AIFF File?

Vest try the unzipped wav file. See if it still kills. Seems vegas and Soundforge are kool with it. Though. I have Cubase SX but i hate it so much I never learned how to work it beyond simple mixdown to get the files into what I like working on.

OK give me a sec..

Media player doesn't like it. I'm downloading now to see if Cubase or Adobe does.

Cubase SX should also accept an AIFC or AIFF File .

Sonar accepts Aiff but I believe that windows doesn't.... you can try uploading something, I will give it a try... and maybe try sending a 16 bit 41,000hz file... that's maybe it (even if I often use 48,000)

Well let's the troubleshooting begins (I mean... continu!)
