new computer

Anyway, I've been running all these custom "boutique" virus/malware/spyware/underwear scans, and holy shit, my computer runs better than ever. I had no idea I had so much gunk clogging this bitch up.

Might be a good idea to take it apart and clean out the fans and sinks really good while you are at it.

Make sure when you buy canned air, you don't accidentally get the canned fart stuff. :D

I've got a 180 psi compressor in the garage. Fuck canned air. :D

Unless it has some air driers I wouldn't use it. Air from a compressor can have way too much moisture for use on your computer.

As for OS and antivirus, Win 7 64 OEM(Origianal Equipment Manufacturer) and MSE(MicroSoft Security Essentials), and MalwareBytes Antimalware is all you'll need. OEM means the software will be tied to the hardware-you cannot transfer the OS to another system, but you CAN update hardware.

Deja vu.............................................

Oh no.......What happened?

I've got this "guru" guy helping me out with all these custom scans and shit, and something went beserk. The computer stuck and froze and won't do shit. He says that we removed the files the virus was using, but it's still in there trying to reinstall itself into directories that are no longer there, or some shit like that. So, I'm following his new instructions and we'll see what happens. I'm posting this from my laptop.....which sucks almost as bad as my desktop. :D

Best o luck there. Sounds like a good time to wipe the drive and get back to fishin. Btw, any luck on the swimming bastards today?

If I have to wipe this bitch again, I really will just buy a new one.

Lol. That sounds funny.

Anyway, yeah I caught a bunch of fish, but none of them were fucking big enough to keep. The kids had a party today, so I wanted to be gone when their snotty, germy, loud friends arrive. The surf was way too rough and crowded (I forgot it's 4th of july weekend), so I kayak fished the bay looking for some eaters. I found plenty of them, but like I said, too little to keep. It was nice though.

Always good to get on the water. I gotta get out this summer.

I have no doubt you will enjoy a new comp. Hell the 35 second boot time still gives me a smile in the mornin with my new toy.

When you get a new one and get everything installed and set up download a program called macrium reflect and make a ghost image of your drive. If something happens again it'll just be take a 1/2 hour or so to get back to a fresh install.

I just realized that I didn't setup my raid config right so my second drive isn't copying what my main is doing. Dammit! I'm gonna have to find a guru myself now. Reinstall everything or mirror the working drive on a external drive and setup raid correctly....then......and.......???

Shit!!!

There is a program that will convert your existing drive system to RAID - It might be Partition Magic - or it might be the Intel RAID setup software that came on my machine. But I converted to RAID just by adding the drive then configuring the thing and let it run through its crap overnight - converted to RAID and everything is all set now - you need a RAID examiner -

That sucks that your computer died Greg - computers are a pain in the ass

Thanks but it aint dead. It's just in a coma. It'll be dead when I run over it with my car.
