That review gave me an idea, and since I'm drunk and stoned, I thought I would actually try it as a medical device.

You would be surprised to learn that this mic does actually play an important role in the medical field, in much the same ways that you have stated.

It is used intranasally, with the device being slowly pushed through the nostril until it reaches the nasopharynx. Recordings made during this process are then plotted for volume and frequency parameters, and from this a quantitative determination of the patients pain threshold can be extrapolated.

Secondly, in cases of sigmoid colon and rectal obstruction, this mic is inserted through the anus and moved proximally to evaluate the quality of the borborigmi. From this it can often be determined where the obstruction is, and, in fact, in many cases the mic actually relieves the obstruction, and no further procedures are necessary.

These are just two of the miracles of modern medicine possible with what some would consider to be a throwaway peice of audio equipment.

Funny shit.
I'll give you $150 for that mic so I can have a stereo pair. Let me know.

Deal!

I take cash, paypal, or naming rights to unborn children in trade.

the MXL V63 BP which cost 39.99, now $59.99
i'm comparing it to a $9 radio shack dynamic.

signal chain is:

mic(s) -------> "MIC IN" to onboard sound

....

welp, it sounds different. a lot more... reverby. kinda high on the treble. i don't know if it sounds better. i thought these condenser mics could pick up tiny noises, but i couldn't hear any small noises that i made.

if i got a "real" soundcard, and used the Audiobuddy i never use, then the contrast between the two mics should be much starker, right? my sound should be a lot better right?

thanks dudes.

Oh my?

I have V63M... sounds pretty good, a little on the dark side pretty sensitive...I think your having some technical difficulties with something. It hacks me that I paid $100 for this when it was new. Oh well... it was for my kids anyway.

Plug your mic into the audio buddy, then plug the audio buddy into the "line in" of your sound card. That should be way better.

SoMm

yeah, it is retarded when i try that. i can barely hear the signal when recorded, but it's loud when i play. better description...

everything is plugged in correctly, and i can hear the mic all the time, even when not recording. when i turn up the gain on the audiobuddy, it gets louder in my headphones. is this normal?

and when i record, i hear it too, but my recording signal is really weak, like you can barely hear it. i had the line in volume all the way up, but it is still screwed up.

oh yeah, i hear the radio too. great..

i figured it's my soundcard. it's onboard AC97 on my ASUS A7N266-vm motherboard. it better not be a defective audiobuddy or else i'll be pissed. grr...
