Maybe
I might be able to do a test for you, but it may take a week or two before I get around to it. I usually record my roommate's vocals with my Nady TCM-1100 tube condensor, but I also have had two MXL V67 and just recently acquired a SP C1. We tested out the C1 and we may prefer it over the TCM-1100 in some situations - I still am unsure about which one I prefer.
But anyways, I am going to do a test in the somewhere near future where I'll have all three of them setup so I can compare the three of them - and I can post them up when they are recorded. If you can, remind me in about a week via email (cg1207@messiah.edu) and I'll try to get the vocal samples up.
If you are also looking at
acoustic guitar use, I can't tell you which one will be better. I know the V67 does well on piano.
Also, remember that everything is highly highly dependent on the source and the sound you are trying to get. It is really best to see if you can go audition them yourself somehow. I haven't used the V67 on vocals for a while, but pretty much what everyone says is true as far as I remember from my little use of the two. The V67 is a little darker and has a lot more proximity effect, the C1 is a little more clear and open sounding -----> that being if I remember the hearing the V67 accurately. We'll see what everyone thinks once I get around to do vocals, aight?
Peace,
Craig
