Using CWPA9 with win2000pro,M-Audio Quatro,SBLive!.The trouble is when I set up CWPA for mono recording and arm the track, the level meter shows a pinned to the red led meter!!!Nothing I do will seem to correct this(other than switching back to stereo).Um...huh?Thanx for your time,in advance.

At first I thought of a feedback loop, but the stereo-mono thing...?
Is there a way to tell if it really is maxing out voltage-wise? And is there sound associated with the red line?

Strange one. Describe your signal chain leading up to the sound card. What port on the SB Live are you plugged into?

Also, I'm not familiar with the Quatro. Is that a preamp?

OK!The Quatro is an audio converter. It takes real audio and converts it so My PC can read it thru the USB port. But regardless, even when I unhook Everything from the PC it still there. No sound is assosiated .None at all.Just a pinned level indicator on the armed trak

What do you have selected as the recording source in the Windows Mixer (or the SB Mixer)? It sounds to me like you have Mic In selected as your source, and that you also have the checkbox for +20db mic boost selected (under the Advanced section). What you're seeing is most likely noise from the internal preamp on the SB Live.

Deselecting the mic boost should fix it; however you really should be using Line In as your recording source anyway.

Sorry...tried that and it's not even being used,to hear the mix /playback,it comes out of the 1/4 " outs on the M-Audio into the aux port on the soundcard. But even when nothing is connected it still peaks the level, why it doesn't do this in stereo is beyond me,only happens in mono...?

Sorry for belaboring the point, but are you sure you checked recording properties, not playback properties?

Otherwise I'm at a loss. That's the only thing I can think of that might exhibit the behavior you describe (although I'm still puzzled with the stereo/mono thing).

Are you able to record at all in stereo mode?

Thanx for all your help dachay.I got it now!I had the input driver on the soundcard selection as well as the USB port (Silly ME!)I am an anxous person sometimes and didn't take time to double check it all.Thanx for the heads up,though...

Damn, you almost shocked me W.I.S.C !! I thought you attempt to add "no-no-no" to SB Live! list :D :D :D
