Three questions:

1) Anyone have any idea how long the sale will last?

2) Do you have to order over the phone?

3) Is anyone familiar with Guitar Center's policy on matching prices? Does it include prices found with online companies such as this one?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

A few answers and some suggestions:

1) No. But, it's a toll free number, call them and ask.

2) Shreve Audio is located at 1200 Marshall, Shreveport, La. 71101 so I guess you could mail them the money or if you live close, drive on over and buy them.

3)
a) No.
b) Call GC and ask them.

Solafide said, 8th Street will match the price, so I'm guessing Full Compass, Musicians Friend, etc, will match the MXL603S $49.98 price also.

I called them, and they daid that they've gotten so many orders that they will probably be ending the sale tonight. I don't know if they were just saying that to try and make a quicker sale or not......but I'm really kicking myself for not having $50 right now........ggggrrrr.......

Yeah, I had to go for one of them myself. Now I have a pair :)

Well, as of right now they're still on sale for $49 on their website. Barrow the money if you have too, or hock/sell something you don't want/need.

the only problem with that is I'm a big borrower.......and I still owe people lots of money....it just ain't in the cards right now. I'm gonna have to wait till summer and pay the extra $30 or so....you win some you lose some I guess.

Thank's Dennis for the tip off. I've been waiting to find a deal on these for a while now and never would have seen this had you not let us know about it. I ordered mine this morning.
Thank's.......Joe :D

All you are makin' me depressed, stop buying them! Or buy me one!

Will two of these work for stereo recording (like x/y)? I read some thread on here that was discussing matched pairs. Maybe it was one of Harvey's posts that talked about non-matched pairs possibly causing phase problems in the stereo field. I don't even understand what that is so should I worry about it? I was already planning on buying a (matched) pair of these but I'd love to get in on this deal now.

Cheers!

I think this is the thread your thinking of. https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=81386

And 8Tth Street is selling matched stereo MXL603S pairs with shock mounts and a case for $199.00 and yes I said 'matched' stereo pair. http://www.8thstreet.com/product.asp?ProductCode=6450&Category=Microphones

Man, that's a sweet little package.

I wonder how well they're matched?

Well, the ones I got from 8th street sound good to me and they came with a paper from Marshall Electronics stating the following.

"Congratulations! and Thank You for your purchase of the MXL603SPR Stereo Matched Pair. These 2 microphones have been carefully matched at Marshall Electronics in El Segundo, CA. They have been evaluated and paired according to their sonic characteristics to provide you with the quality you’ve come to expect from Marshall Electronics.".

I love how all this gear comes with lit inside that always say congratulations, like you won it, or gave birth or something.

Actually they're probably matched better than I can hear.

ElSegundo, eh? Hmmmmmm that's only 1.5 hours from here (45min on the bike). I wonder what they do with the un-matched ones?

Sell 'em to Shreve?

"gave birth" Congratulations you have twins. LOL :)

Wow, you could go there and find out all you can and report it back to all of us here.

Here's the address:
Marshall Electronics, Inc.
1910 East Maple Avenue
El Segundo, CA 90020

Well i ordered my pair yesterday. And this is you guys fault !
I didnt need them or the v67g I had the guy stick on the order
either. Oh well new toys once in a while dont hurt,
May be after i get them I can post some drum samples
comparing them to a set of oktava mc 012,s

Speaking in the pastimes (because it might change sometimes) I've liked my MC-012's as drum overheads over my MXL603S's everytime so far, mainly because I've liked the cymbals with the 012's a little more. But, the MXL603S is an awesome mic. I also like the MXLV67G, I have two of them -- it's a really nice mic.

I too just bought two...he asked if i wanted "a pair" i said yes...no matter what it will be better than what ive got now...
thanks for the tip...
when i ordered they asked where i heard of them so i threw in the plug for this board...long live the board!!!

wonder how many of these things they have sold in the past two days because of this thread.

The guys said they've been selling like crazy, every other call has been for them.

I'm a confused newbie. Do you think the matched pair with the shock mounts and case is worth the extra $100 bucks or should I go for two unmatched and spend that $100 on another piece of gear. I have the extra $100 and would hate to underbuy. I'll have these mics for a long time. I would be using them as drum overheads, on congas and acoustic guitar. Thanks.
