Just noticed this add if anyone is interested. It says the Marshall 603 for 49 bucks. Might be BS, I don't know.

www.shreveaudio.com It's the add right under the Mackie D8B.

If anyone is offended, by me posting this, just give me a hoot and I'll nuke the thread.

Wow, that is cheapest Marshall MXL603S mic sale I've seen to this date. Thank you for the link.

Yeah, I don't even need them and I just ordered two because their so cheap. They said the MXL603S's are new and they have them in stock, and would ship mine today. There shipping two Marshall MXL603S's to me in CA for a total of $106.96. I love sales.

There is a local guy selling New SM58 mics for 88 bucks. They don't do the internet thing but if you are close to central MS it might be worth the drive.

I'd thought about buying a few of these and offering them up for my cost but after taxes (7%) and shipping it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Well, they were advertising those for $49.00 a couple of years ago too. I called and confirmed the price and ordered one on my charge card. An hour later, they called to tell me that they were $69.00. I told them to cancel it. Screw that.

I don't support companies that pull crap like that.

I ended up ordering two from 8th street for $69.00 each.

Great mics by the way.

Mike

Do I need a 603 since I just got a Studio Projects B1??? Just mainly doing acoustic guitar/vocal stuff. If I do, would the 1006 be better since the shockmount is included for $10 more??
Thanks BJ

I just ordered a pair, they had better not switch the price. My plan was to wait for the studio projects C4s to come out, but hell, this is a difficult deal to pass up.

You need every microphone in the world. Scratch that. You need two of every microphone in the world. Or three, if you can swing it. Seriously, though, the B1 has a very good reputation around here on acoustic guitar. There are some people who have given the 1006 good reviews for vocals... It never hurts to have some extra choices in the mic department, but it doesn't necessarily help either.

good deal!

i just bought 2!
$106 including shipping.
thanks for the post!

I've got two of them coming my way too. Thanks for the heads-up, Dennis!

Yeah, at that price you need two MXL603S's. That's a dirt cheap price, you better hurry before they're all gone and or the sale ends.

Yes, I think this would make a great versatile and inexpensive pair for stereo recording acoustic instruments, including guit and piano.

I'm using 2 MXL603's and have recently had great success with them as drum overheads, stereo pair on acoustic guitar (spaced and x/y) and grand piano. They're my first small diaphragms, but I do know they sound great and capture instruments very well. With a 603 and a B1 you could stereo-mic the guitar, or record guit and vocals at the same time. With a pair, you have even more options. A large diaphragm and a small diaphragm in my opinion is more versatile than 2 different large-diaphragms. Also, the 603's seem to be much more highly regarded than the 1006.

Good luck,
Steve

Get them if you can, not as good of a deal that I got but you will be hard pressed to do better than that

I just ordered two mxl 603's from 8thstreet music. They matched the price with no troubles - $107 including shipping. I am looking forward to working with these mics.

Thanks rustyfingers for posting this price.

That 49$ price reflects a 2% cash discount, so officially, they are 49.98 if you buy with a credit card. Imagine my horror... as I bought 2. Great deal.

$49.98 if you buy with a credit card is correct. I wonder how much the dealers are really paying for the Marshall MXL603S? They seem to be or have been a big marked-up idem.
