"Mama, I'm Coming Home" with RAMI on vocals

This version is much better. I know it's just a cover song and all, but I mean it's posted here in the mp3 clinic for mixing advice. People will tell you things you don't want to hear. They do it to me all the time when I post something and I don't get butt hurt about it. So, it's just a cover and people shouldn't offer their opinions? Then you posted it in the wrong section. Move it to the Marketing Your Music / Publicity forum. If you truly want feed back on it then suck it up and take it like a man :D

You missed the point, which is odd considering all of your guitars are pointy. :D

Everyone doing vocals for Schwarzenyaeger's Sabbath/Ozzy cover project right now is singing outside comfort zones. Christ, I'm an acoustic pop/adult contemporary guy and I did War Pigs, currently working on The Wizard. So I think the crazy vocal nitpicking can chill regarding this project. We'll all just pitching in and having fun.
Hehe...Yeah, that must be quite a change for you. I missed "War Pigs". Is it still in the Clinic somewhere? I'll check it out.

Don't sweat it. To be honest, it kind of looked like they jumped at a chance to knock you down a few pegs
It's all good. I can handle it. I'm a big boy with a big mouth. I'll take it as a compliment.
But I didn't hear the first version. Maybe it was off........
There was room for improvement, but when is there not? But it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be by some. It's cool, I'm glad I re-did it.
I think Ozzy is shit
Yeah, I agree. But a shit singer can sometimes be harder than a good singer to emulate. He has a sound, I guess.

This guy gets it.

I'm having such a great time getting a lot of different people to contribute instruments and vocals to these covers.
I got a guy to play the melodica on one even!
I thought that it was very kind of RAMI to do a cover with me instead of work on his own material or watch TV or anything else really.

That's not to say that I don't want the criticism. I'm happy to re-do recordings.

I got the point. I personally wasn't attacking him or trying to bring him down in anyway LOL. He's cool with me. I just said what I heard as someone who's heard the song too many times, unfortunately... I also don't see how it matters weather or not someone has consistent mixes or pointy guitars. That is home recording elitism talk that has no place in the discussion.

It's like OH YOU DIDN'T LIKE MY STUFF? WELL YOUR SHIT WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS MINE! WHO ARE YOU?! HOW DARE YOU GIVE ME ADVICE WITH YOUR POINTY GUITARS!!! AAAARRRRGGGGGG :eatpopcorn:

Yup. Point missed. You're the last one to talk about taking things like a man. I've seen you argue with people and tell them your vocals are great when they've commented otherwise, Cookie Monster. :laughings:

LOL. Personal music tastes have nothing to do with giving mixing advice. I've argued many times for my genre of music in general.

He's got it on Soundcloud:

Good job, man. Considering you're not a hard rock singer, this is pretty convincing. I think Ozzy was a better singer back then, too.

Point missed again.

.....are we having fun yet? :D

Thanks man, you did a great job too. We used to cover "Mama, I'm Coming Home" in a band I was in about 8 years ago, but I wasn't singing. I have either been the lead guitarist and harmony vocalist in classic rock and 80s hair metal cover bands, or a solo acoustic singer/songwriter guy. Never the lead singer for rock (except in my head, and in the car).

Exactly. If anyone's trying to convince themselves I don't want criticism, they have mental problems. I re-did the vocals and admitted there was room for improvement, so anyone claiming otherwise just has a chip on their shoulder for some reason. I've been accepting criticism in this place for years. This thread was different, though, as I explained above. If I had trouble accepting criticism, we would have been having this kind of conversation years ago.

Word homie. Like I said I'm not trying to be a dick.

It's all good, Foul. I think we all should take a deep breath and chill. We're all friends here. If this were in person, I'd ask you to step outside so you can kick my ass, and then we'd come back inside and jam. :D

The pointy guitar bit is just a joke. But good mixes and stuff does matter. It's not elitism. I'm not talking about you, just in general. If someone tears apart a mix, and their own mixes suck, then you have to consider the source. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but not all opinions are credible. I could tell Lebron James how I think he should set up a pick and roll, but he'd be stupid to listen to me.

Another example, you make cookie monster death metal, or whatever it's called. Are you going to take the criticisms of say, some kid rapper seriously? If some teenage girl pop star said your guitar tones have too much midrange, are you going to go change everything because of that? No. You wouldn't. You have to sometimes consider the source.

I'm never again going to have 2 songs up that start with the word "Mama....". I'm pretty sure that's the problem.

But now I know how to get 10 pages out of a thread. :D

Ay, I'm the man to do business with. More controversial than Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1980 Mr. Olympia win in here.

I'm going to totally hammer a Beatles song to shit so it can top this one on the hate-o-meter..

You should have done a Beatles tune in the Challenge thread. A punk version of "P.S. I Love You" would have made my month!

I always thought Serge Nubret should have beaten Arnold any time they were in the same competition.

And you know what the sad thing is?
For Arnie, it was just another small, small piece in his 50 years of being "in the zone". Didn't even matter in the long run.

Mike Mentzer!

No one challenged me.....that I saw anyway.
