Are you going to master this?

I ask because I went to find the Ozzie version and it's considerably louder. I'm not a big fan of modern mixing philosophy...which seems to want to squeeze that last POSSIBLE decibel out of a mix. I just thought you might want to make a side by side comparison.
Actually, I did put this through a limiter already. I have it averaging about -12dbfs ( I think those are the right letters. :D). Where did you hear the OZZY version. I mean, do you have the actual album? Because that's the only one that matters. Online version like Youtube or whatever don't mean anything. People do all kinds of things to songs before they upload them to sites like that.

It was YouTube. I don't have that album. I guess it really is apples to oranges no matter what you compare it to....not knowing what volume to set something playing a CDA track.

I always sort of master/mix....mixing everything with isolated compression on each track and then maximizing the output while balancing the mix. It approximates mastering but then leaves room to adjust certain tracks for dynamics.

Yeah it's cool, but it has so much weird delay it sounds like off. And I agree with one of the other commenters who said the vocal delivery was off as well. It all sounds a bit wobbly or something. Hard to explain. Still cool though.

Yeah, you can't go by that. You can take 10 different Youtube versions of something and they'll all be different volumes. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if the album version is louder than this. I tried to get it up there but not "volume wars" loud.

Do you know the original, Phil?

I dug it, tuff to pull off both guitar and vocalwise....thought you guys captured the vibe well

Thanx Queepy? You hear any "wobbly" on the vocals?

I'm only asking because I want to get a consensus. It's not a matter of wanting to be right or wrong. I'll gladly re-sing this if people who know the song all agree. If the overall consensus is that the vocals should be re-done, I'll accept that and re-sing them. I want to give Shwarz the best I can in return for him asking me to do this.

Yeah it has a similar sound, but it's much more crisp and no so wobbly sounding. Something I think that might help, is if you play the song like 50 times and sing along with it. Some of the pronunciation is way off. It sounds like you're on to something, but needs a bit of tightening.

Lol. I know how to practice a song, thanx.

The only way to get the pronunciation "right" is to sing in a British accent. I've tried that and it sounds like a Canadian trying to sing in a British accent, which never sounds good, just phony. I'd rather sound like a Canadian singing a song the way I'd sing a song. If I'm off-key or my timing's off, that's one thing. Pronouncing differently is not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

Gotta fire for ur rite to party alright?

lol texting from yru fone? I watching the news but I'll check this out shortly. I'm a big fan of Rami and Ozzy.

"I don't get it. Are you saying I'm singing flat/sharp?"
Yes.

Really? I'm singing flat? Sharp? All over the place? I'm not challenging you. I want to know what you hear. Any chance of getting more than a one word answer? Thanx man.

Love the mix, those BGV's are nice and rich. I thought the lead vocal processing was pretty good/accurate - sort of a verby/echo thingy. Couldn't hear the OOT guitar but I'm sure if you've found it it's there but subtle. Guitars and drums were spot on. I found the vocal effects sort of dropped a bit and got too clear about third of the way in lol clarity is bad? I did find the word "long" was a little too long - artistic freedom of course. The rest was fine for me. Of topic, I had to check out the Vevo version and I found the mix was SUPER compressed or something - like someone slathered it in butter. Great collab - nice to hear these on the board.
