I've been avoiding doing any recording on the computer; i'm a dinosaur. I still like tracking on my tascam dp-01, but have been experimenting with audacity. I get frustrated with the control of the reverb and i forget the changes i made to eq settings of separate instruments. I guess i miss looking at knobs. Anyway, if you can recommend a good program for mixing, that would be great. I'll load my recorded tracks/wavs from my tascam. Just need a very user friendly mixing program. My focus will probably be eqing vox and picking a good reverb. Secondly would be eqing guitars and compressing bass.

i just looked that up. I'm not familiar with all the jargon. What's this? > """"""""NEW! Get authentic drums sounds with the full version of XLN Audio Addictive Drums"""""""""""

... Can you program drums on this?

Hey,
Here are two current examples of addictive drums on this forum.
Example one.
Example two.

You can choose from pre-made loops, 'hand' write your own beats, or play beats in using an electric kit or keyboard.

example one reminds me of the band "Seed" from the 90's. Yeah, drums sit nicely in the mix.

reaper is a good way to start, it offers fully functioning demo and from what I'm told it never stops you from using it if you don't pay. I use Sonar but that's because I scored it for free when I was a music software salesmen

that's the one i've heard of, but couldn't remember the name. I'm on it. What i'm hanging up on is the unediting part. If i add a reverb, then go off and edit another instrument, i don't know how to take that reverb off without starting over and loading the original raw track. The same for eqing. If i eq the bass, I'd like to what i did, but once i eq it, and edit another track, I'm not sure how that bass was eq'd. I guess with knobs, you can just see how the bass is eq'd at all times. It'll take me some time to get used to.

Get Magix Music Studio. Learn it, and then get Samplitude, it's big brother. It's way more expensive big brother, but it's worth it. Anyway, you should spend at least a year with Music Studio.
