Let's get rid of autotune

Lets get rid of distortion. Adolescent metal-head guitar heros hide all their mistakes behind it so they can sound more ballsy and badass despite being sloppy and high on testosterone when they play. It's just faking the way their twinky little tinny guitars really sound.

Plus its SO CLICHE! It's almost as if every metal band uses the effect! Can't they use a different trick because metal guitar solos are starting to all sound the same anyway.

I love autotune. What would we have without it besides another Beatles, Stones or Ramones? Yay Britney and her autotune spawn. :)

Yer just a bunch of grumpy old guys who fear change.

I'm not grumpy. Pushing old tho. I tune stuff when needed. Britney? Seriously? LOL!

I know you're being facetious, but that's actually not a bad idea. :D

this is to true!!! auto tune is on everything!!!! believe it or not. even the most talented of singers will use it for a few notes here and there just to save money. if it's not noticeable then whats the issue its all about making a track sound as good as it can be.

Agreed. My personal stance on Auto Tune is if you can hear it, you're doing it wrong.

I think auto-tune has a place if it's applied with extreme care or used as a studio effect/gimmick.

It really bugs me when it pops up in places in shouldn't. Check out Dust Bowl Children (track 2) on the latest Alison Krauss:

Damn shame auto-tuning that blatant is needed on a bluegrass record.

Look guys.. Ashley Simpson deserves to have a popstar career! How can we deny her that right by taking away the tool to create it?

Yeah! Without autotune we'd be stuck with a lot of ugly chick singers. So what if the music isn't real? It's a small price to pay.

Milly Vanilla would have been able to keep their grammy if Auto-tune was around back then

I'd rather listen to Alison Moyet than some vapid no-talent twit any day of the week. You can't see what they look like on the iPod anyway. ;)

I hear katty perry is a pretty good singer.

Definitely. But just listen to her live version of Firework and you will see the immense lack of lustre compared to the studio version...

I thought that most of the acts of today just lipsync to recorded tracks at live shows?
