Vocal Practice - Weekly Accountability Thread

Forgive me, but the idea is to do it every day, no matter if you have a cold, runny nose or are away. If you stop, you start again!

I appreciate the input, Rob, thanks. I wanted to start at 3 days a week of short practices to build the positive habit and avoid getting discouraged. I have wondered, though, whether it would be easier to maintain the habit as part of a daily morning routine instead of practicing ad hoc.

Re practicing while sick, I figured there wasn't much point to it, and it's good to rest up. I suppose Lin-Manuel Miranda had to crush it on broadway with a head cold, so there's that. As for practicing while away, I'm just aware of people hearing me through thin hotel walls and being irritated or judgmental

Not tryna be defensive, just explaining my thought processes. Cheers!

Back home and back at it - practiced ~4 times this week: 2 times along my regular routine (playing along with a piano) and 2 times focusing on learning harmonies in specific songs for an upcoming gig.

I'm working on staying relaxed, maintaining breath support, and finding that resonant space that allows me to project effectively - especially in that transition range between my chest voice and head voice. That's a really tricky spot and I find it's sneakily easy to 'retreat' into a less projective, more nasally/unconfident vocal sound when singing over that range of notes.

Practiced 4 times this week as well - so far so good. It's getting slightly easier to find that resonant space and project when I focus ob individual notes, so I'm working on keeping that projection present as I move up and down my vocal range. Especially tricky in some areas, but I'm seeing improvements as I keep at it
