I got the Pre-amps in and mounted, so it's finally time to update this thread. :) here's the home studio after the remodel. (Sound room really hasn't changed... much)

Wow, your control room looks very much like mine! Like scary similar. You have a lot more equipment though

My room is red with creamy absorption panels and has laminate flooring, and my big studo desk is almost the width of the room. I even have the same chair!

You have a much bigger live room though :o

"Cherry Chocolate" was the color... it sounded delicious. I try not to lick the walls, thank goodness they're not scratch and sniff.

My Live room might be deceiving... it's only about 13x16 or so.

As for the racks, they are very open in back, and I have seen no heat issues yet. I wish I would... the outside window isn't very well insulated. :D

Yeah nice colour.

I could fit four of my live rooms into yours!! Mine is 6'6"x7'6" and my drum booth is 9'x5'!

Its a well known fact the colour Red is better for studios as it absorbs more sound than colours from the other end of the spectrum such as blue - helps with the room treatment.

I picked the colors of my Football team, worked for me.

Alan.

That's a myth, of course. Well, not a myth exactly but the color you paint the room will not make any measurable and certainly no audible difference acoustically.

I'm pretty sure everybody knows this already...just making absolutely sure. :)

Sorry, I should have ended the post with </sarcasm>....

I thought so, but I wanted to be sure. I've heard everything from "electromagnetic acoustical spheres" to "bass trapping crystals", so I always err on the side of caution.

Frank

Bass trapping crystals need to be at a 3:1 aspect ratio from your lava lamps or they'll cancel each other out...

Unless your room is Red, then you can usually get by with 2:1

Haha. I feel the words "acoustically transparent" are thrown around far too much...

I have that EXACT same receiver. Nice! I dont mind letting pussy get all over my equipment, however that picture is just going to far.

she likes when its been on for a while because it gets warm where she lays. hm, i dont know why its orange light isn't on, im pretty sure it was on when i took the picture!

Finally,Pics of my place

Well I finally got a digital Camera and got to take a few pics of my place I built about 2 years ago. It has finally fleshed out a bit. It has a main room a vocal booth a drum booth andan assortment of storage rooms and a rest room.

I love it anyway, an personally I think it sounds excellent too.

wow, it looks good! Have you tried recording drums in the big room?

Actually I have.
I do it all the time for groups who want to play in the same room, or for when I have time to track all the drum parts to a demo or album.
When recording just drums I can get a set of room mics going about 30 feet away and get some nice natural reverb going. It has a pretty short tail and is not very dense, but it adds some welcome depth to the sound.

The drum booth is about 11 by 10, and really sounds great as well.
It is nice to be able to tweak the kit and mic placement, then leave it alone where I can record at my own pleasure.
I have been doing some collab tracks at recording projects.com that have been enjoyable.

Jinx Productions

This is what I'm work'in with over here. Doesn't look like much, but really gets the job done for hip/hop recording. And the cat keeps all the ladies occupied....
