learning about circuit diagrams and schematics

I hate to say it for fear of ridicule... but Radio Shack

Radio shack has some simple books on electronics, showing diagrams, symbols simple projects wit a few transistors and IC's etc. My favorite is the "Engineers Notebook" it has some nice audio circuits that I have used.

DOM :o

If you really want to learn the very basics of electronics hands-on, see if you can find an "Electronic Project Kit", also from Radio Shack. They are actually targeted to kids who want to build electronic stuff, and it's essentially a circuit board with connectors and wires that allow you to connect stuff without saudering. It comes with a step by step instruction guide that shows you how to read schematics. The perfect "Electric Circuitry for Dummies".. I loved mine.

What's wrong with a college text book? It is how they teach you at a trade school. I have an AAS in electronics. The books I used in college were very good.
