I've been happily using cubase SE with a Delta 1010LT for a while now and all of a sudden I cannot record into Cubase.

I go mic-> preamp-> soundcard, the gain meter on the pre is showing a signal as is the meter for the relevant input in the delta control panel, so I know that a signal is going into the card.

So I assign the input which is connected to the preamp to a track in Cubase, double check that the input is activated and nothing. No signal.

Playing back is no problem so there's no issue with the outputs.

It's probably something simple but I've had enough of staring at menus and settings and I'd like to avoid M Audio tech assistance.

So any suggestions?

Thanks alot

So you get nothing at all in Cubase huh?

Maybe you just need to redo the ASIO setup?

Stupid suggestion, but it might help you troubleshoot if its a software or hardware issue.

If you are running windows open the crapy windows audio recorder and see if you can record to that. If you can, then you know its not your card.

start-->programs-->accessories-->entretainment-->sound recorder.
If you have already tried this then sorry, have not other suggestions (except maybe check the software input into your pci card to make sure it's not muted, etc).

question -
when feeding a signal into your PC, when you open up the Delta panel does it show any signal going in ???

Good idea, I tried that and I am able to record into the windows recorder. So presumably my problem is in the software?

Disposable- can you expand on that a bit? Do you mean reinstalling the card? I don't have a great knowledge with this stuff (I was kind of amazed when I installed the card in the first place and it worked).

Buzi, yes the input in the delta mixer is showing a signal.

Thanks for the input so far fellas.

Is there an option in Cubase to reprofile your soundcard, or have the software reacquaint itself with the drivers?
Can you still see the list of drivers in Cubase?

You could also try regressing to a previous restore point

Not that I'm aware of. When I got to slect an input it still says 'delta input 3/4' or whatever. Cubase still recognises the Delta as the soundcard to use for inputs/outputs.

Sorry I don'tknow what this means :o

Thanks for your help

Are you running XP?

It's got the System Restore facility where you can regress to a previous configuration that used to work

That did it! Thank you so much. I don't know what the hell happened but I can record again so all is well with the world. :D

Thanks again

You could try another multitrack program. There's a popular one around here.....damn, what is it again?!?!?

Seriously, glad you got it working. Did you maybe change something in your computers config or install something recently? Nice that the restore worked, but I'd want to know what might have caused the prob.

I'm wracking my brains and nothing obvious springs to mind. To be honest, as happy as I am that things seem OK I'm a bit nervous about it and would really like to know what caused it.

If the problem re emerges I'll have to get to the root of the problem.
