this is exactly like every forum ive ever been to. it a buncha old useless computer nerds that probably still live with there mom who havent made any thing of there life and think that there advise is accualy respected, when in reality nobody fucking cares what they have to say. i want to thank the first two guys who respodned to this thread you are accualy usefull human beyings. for the rest of you useless fucks. get a fuckin life and get off of your computer for ten seconds

As one of the two first responders and as a Virginian, hopefully I still have some cred.

Regarding your future career, I don't know anything about Full Sail so I can't advise you one way or the other. However, you are capable of deciding for yourself.

In doing so, please consider not only pro and con advise on Full Sail, but also other alternatives. For example, I graduated from JMU (it was a LOT easier to get in back then) with a degree in business. I wouldn't suggest that for you; actually I wish I had majored in music education. However I do happen to know JMU has a really good music program with a concentration in music industry, as do several other VA state universities. There are advantages of a traditional university, like flexibililty in program of study, and credibility of a bachelor's degree.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a technical school, but if you can swing it at all I'd go for a semester of university to see if that's for you first. Seems like from the Full Sail website they take you whenever, so it can't hurt.

PS Oh and I'm the loser who has a desk job that he doesn't really want to do. BlueBear runs a commercial studio.

Well, he certainly has MY number in one thread! Gifted. Go to FullSale. You deserve it.

And since I have not learned anything, especially not to cast pearls before swine, let me cast some more...

ive is spelled "I've" (a contraction of 'I have'), buncha is spelled "bunch of", havent is actually "haven't" (this is a contraction too), there, in this context, is spelled "their", accualy is spelled "actually", you actually (accualy? got "reality" correct... kudos!!), i is capitalized, respodned is "responded", usefull is, uh, "useful", beyings is "beings", and kudos for knowing how to spell "computer"!!

I think G.W.'s 'No Child Left Behind' legislation is a little too late for you!

You might want to look in a mirror and think about why that happens.

Best of luck in your future endeavors (seriously). You seem like a smart guy who is capable of learning - I know I learn best from my mistakes.

I don't know if I'd go that far. If he was capable of leaning he might have figured out that he's the problem, not the forums.

But then again, I live at home and have no other life besides here. So what do I know? Apparently nothing except how to type and spell properly.

Nice attitude -- you can definitely count on no further input from me..... go wallow in some Rolls and Radio Shack gear - I'm sure between that and your attitude, you'll learn a lot........

thecuriouscouch... don't let the old farts get to you... even if their points are valid it's not worth getting a tight face over. Anyway, this is a microphone forum so feel free to ask questions or talk about mics here anytime. :)

liik man i didnt enter this forum to get biched at, my dad went to a tec school and hess makin 100+ if i need advise on life ill goto a "i need advise in life" forum, now can we stop beying 12 yr olds and just talk about what we realy care about. sorry for calling you a wanker, its a verry commonly used thing here

I tried that route with tech school 30 years ago. I just finished college at age 49. Times change, don't forget that. Also, whatever you do, learn to spell. You'll get more jobs based on that than almost anything else. I say this btw as one who hires and fires. One of the things I look for is someone who has the ability to spell. It shows that you care about doing a good, thorough job.

Good Luck, Steve

wow, seriously blue bear, i didnt ask you for a life lesson, i didnt do anything in the begining of this thread but ask a simple question. if you read how this thread progressed i did nothing to antagonise anyone. you guys jumped down my throat becase i called a guy a wanker because he was beying a smart ass. so just leave me alone. im 17 you realy should care this much

So now you've learned that if you've just joined a BBS and you call an old timer a wanker right off the bat, that shit is gonna rain down, and you're not going to get any useful info from there on out. So be happy you're getting this free life lesson at age 17. Learn from it, and move on.

Hmmm. Nothing to antagonize anyone? ? ? :D :D

Curious,

Best of luck. My mom is calling, have to run!

Now THAT'S funny! I was going to mention the spelling thing too, but you beat me to it.

wow, everybody is a little uptight today. it is ok, i've been seeing it all day. everywhere i've gone today people have been uptight and easily offended.

i haven't been part of this forum for long but i think forum manners do exist. for one, don't go cussing people out while asking them for help.

i live down the street from a Full Sail campus and i have to admit that i am not impressed. the biggest advantage for Full Sail students is that they can be exposed to quite a bit of recording technology. as in any career experience is valued much higher than schooling. if you can show that you know what you're doing its much better than that degree hanging on the wall. i know several tallented people who go to Full Sail and i would have to assess that they would be tallented regardless of their degree from Full Sail. at the same time i know some incompetent students there for whom no amount of schooling can help.

my advice would be to get a Bachelor's Degree from a university and practice recording in your spare time. at $30k per year Full Sail is an expensive route for a few months of recording experience. i think that kind of money would be much more wisely invested in a real degree and some recording gear. Rather than spend the 30k on Full Sail i would suggest spending 10k on gear and 20k on a four year degree in Engineering or Business, depending on whether you want to know "the technical aspects to microphone placement" or "how to sell records."

It's not WHAT you asked but rather How you asked it. That you see nothing wrong with how you framed your question and the various follow-ups tells me that you are indeed 17 and if you learn nothing from this, you will probably remain 17.

'tis a pity.

if YOU would just read what these guys are saying beside ripping you a new ass.. they are giving there thoughts on the school you said you wanted to go to and telling you its not such a good idea, and id have to agree with them.
