Great tune but just one complaint...
Please dont say "Let the Good Times Roll" because now I have that song stuck in my head, and thats never a good thing.

:)

Your tune rocks though. I like the samples.

Your music is definitely radio worthy and the guitar hook's are great. I really dig this song too, but the only one thing I could find, the tempo change's around 2:29 to 3:15 are a little abrupt. In itself, that part is good, but maybe you can get to that part in a different way. Anyway's I am just a listener so far, so take it for what it's worth, but get that song onto the radio already.

P.S. The whiny lady part is a great touch!

Sounds good! The only thing that stuck out to me is that the snare although had a nice fat sound, was a little too loud in the mix. It could be because I'm listening to it through my stock Polk Audio speakers though.

It kind of sounds like Robert Palmer joined Alice in Chains! :D

I mean that with all good intentions!!

Just sneaking in to say a word or two.

I think you got intimidated by the fact that this might have some airplay and the first thing you did was nudge the vox down.

Push the vox up you sucker!! The inflection and emotion make the words and changes make sence.

I think the overall mix could use some more low end. Give the gits some low end rumble ( below 300 ?) I don't fucking know, and the basic low end should be as such.

I normally get a worried growl out of my monitors when the low end is in place. This mix didn't worry my monitors and left my ears wanting some gut nuts...........

I didn't listen to the other comments and I was happy to pop in at a time when I had a free second to comment on the tune so please take my milk toast mullings for what they are.

Peace,

Theron.

On a fluffy, review side of thangs, I though the song was teasingly personal, dynamically stable and cropped where cropped should be on a release like this.

ok...since this is a "revived" thread....what happened with the radio play?? did it get played?...airplay comments? or did I miss all that in previous threads? I forgot all about you submitting this. You're a rock star now...eh?

Dawn of the Dead

demensia - I am suprised to see this thread here.. I don't know what made you bring it back from the abyss, but thanks! I can't believe you don't like the Cars, man! :D "Let 'em roll"

Joe Recorder - thanks.. The spoken parts were from the 'Shadow of the Vampire' movie.. I originally had a girls voice on there, but when we stopped going out, I replaced her voice with the samples.. If only it was that easy in real life! :D The abrupt part you referred to is abrupt, I agree. I get that problem a lot...

rushfan33 - I am still working out several drum problems.. I either make the drums too loud or too low.. Hopefully my new tune will sound better.. It should be done in a few days.. thanks!

theron - as always, a poetic response.. :D This tune was done months ago, and I have beefed up my guitar recording methods since.. I agree it could use something, but I haven't thought about this tune in awhile.. Maybe I'll go in for a remix.. We will be speaking soon about our thing.. thanks for the educational response my man!

mixmkr - welcome back doood!! I sent this to the radio station, and I still haven't heard from them.. :( I'm guessing they either thought it sucked, or they stole the song and gave it to a real artist.. Either way, I am going to put it on a CD I'm making and give it away to whoever will accept one.. thanks for asking, but as usual, there is not a happy ending story to tell.. :D :(

Hey Sam,

Looks like you have quite a few replys already. I haven't read them yet, so I may be just repeating stuff ... if I do, sorry bout' that ...

Okay on to the song. First off, very cool that you are going for submitting this to a radio station. I hope the best for you.

Great song! Full of very cool changes. I'm not sure, however, how much the regular old "radio listening" population will appreciate it since it may be hard to follow to the average joe -- imhop -- :) -- There kind of is not a discernable "hook" to the song because of the many changes, and for radio that could be a problem --

The playing is excellent throughout. Very accomplished.

I think your vocals are excellent as well, but the only feedback I might have may be to raise them a bit in the mix to make them a little more clear.

Okay, that is all I think. As usual, you have blown me away with this thing. I'm not sure if radio is ready for it yet, but it is a very accomplished piece of work. Great job!

Okay, I am SO not into this genre, but you really got my attention here! VERY clean, linear recording, at least instrumentally. Smooth and crunchy all at the same time. The vocals are well-arranged, properly whimsical, but it could also be said about them that they are overly gimmicked, to a minor extent. There is a patina of "filtered" to it all, like the middle of "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", but the whole song is that way, so the effect dilutes itself. With as many style j8umps as there are, you could have done jump-cuts between clean and gritty vocal filtering and gotten away with it.

But holy shit, can you sing!

I was chair-boogeying and thrashing and headbanging, which is rare! (And difficult, because I'm mostly bald, and my hair doesn't "swish" :D )

Excellent, dude! Send it on!!!!

Cheers,
