I'm not upset at all dude I'm trying to give you some tips that will help you gain the respect of some of the other members on this board that will provide you with some valuable knowledge in your quest for improving your drum sounds but you aren't real good at taking constructive criticism so no big deal as far as the me getting laid part I wouldn't object to it but I do get laid regularly so that's not the issue in fact the issue isn't me at all the issue is you and your crappy attitude probably from the fact that your parents didn't discipline you at all so now you think the world owes you something but as you'll find as you exit your teen years that the world doesn't give two shits about your snivelling ass lol brb ps I think I'd like an asswhoopin' right now I find it therapeutic because before my ass is technically whooped I'm going to get to work out some of my own demons know what I'm sayin' know what I'm sayin' lol brb

and by the way I did give you advice before your temper-tantrum and it's pretty good advice too but I'm sure it was lost on you because you "shouldn't have to go reading through several minutes of stuff just to get decent drum sounds" huh lol brb

ps, great drum sounds aren't something you get with an hour or two invested. There's too many things that can go wrong. Read up on drum tuning, mic choice and placement, compression, gating, panning, and eq.

children children

& Ez running for preisdent & all.....::;" har.HAr,,,,,,,,,,...........!!now I'm pulling the piss................maybe Ezs the spelling nazi of BBS :D :p

anyway all the obvious stuff's been mentioned here already. What I can say is that I clearly remember my shock & disgust at the sound I got from my 1st drum recording & what it's like now. Chalk & cheese.

The point is I've now been recording kit (acoustically) for around 5-6 years & I'm always achieving the best drum sound I've ever had by experimenting & questioning EVERYBODY. listening to your kick I would try a credit card on the head behind the beater

from your pics I couldn't see where your overheads were placed.........where are they placed??

& I'm a bit doe headed how many mics total are you using??

Well im sorry I type very fast paced and from now on I will make it look a little neater. As far as how many mics theres 4 total

2 over heads: Audio-Technica AT4033
1 Snare: either sm57 or akgd770
1 kick: akgd770 with earthworks kick eq

As far as overheads placement i took a quick cellphone shot this is where they usualy are i just threw them back up there since they were sitting in front of my gutiar cabinet cause thats the last thing i miced.

My stands suck as well there cheapo stag stands i have 2 extra dd770 sitting around but no stands to use them on toms.

and ez_wills i just caught on to your sarcasim now about the protools....I heard pro tools is just a better way to go thats why i stated that I talk on fourms like i do as if i were talking to a friend i dont put on an act. I just thought mayb the pro tools pre amps would be better and the software have more options for me thats all

just plain ol' playin around is what you need to do, try pulling your overheads in a bit tighter & maybe a bit lower??

I have protools & my 1st acoustic drum recording was done on the same system I use now. There is a certain amount of knowledge that comes with hands on experience that enables a dude to pull a sound out of most things.

Pro tools is unbelieveable & I would recommend it to anyone but don't buy thinking it will automatically make evrything sound wonderful

Oh no no no i know its all mic placement and technique and long trials of experimentation i just want to know if i should upgrade down the road to it cause i really dislike cubase or mayb its the fact i dont know what to do in cubase  but other than that i was just wondering if it was really all that much better than a firepod set up with cubase sx

in short

YES

I have been on a quest for good sounding drums for years now, and I can tell you from experience that what's limiting me is not my equipment, it's my inexperience at mic placement and in using the tools available.

There are some extremely knowledgeable folks on this board that have covered this topic so many times in the past that they don't bother covering it again. That's why I suggested using the search function to read through relevant threads.

The more I learn about getting good drum sounds, the more I realize that there are so many factors that you need to consider. Read up, then apply that knowledge in your studio. Trial and error will help you get the most out of your gear. If you are then limited by your equipment, upgrade it.

I do that often!

don't we all

wake up to find the top end's been boosted to death to compensate for dull hearing after a days work

Bro it's hard to read run on sentences that have no punctuation shitty spelling and toyz r us grammar and if you're looking for answers you should at least offer the people that are here to help you a little help by posting a question that doesnt need to be decoded to gain an understanding of what youre looking for and one more thing drums are a motherfucker to get to sound even acceptable great is beyond my reach even years after trying I'd suggest checking out Drumagog if are the kind of person you come off as being who demands that the world cater to his needs right now not an hour from now a day from or or even a month from now lol brb know what I mean

EZ, I withdraw my "your no help in other forums" remark. Now that I've eaten some crow, I need a cold beer too. :) btw, good advice lol brb, hmmm, know what you mean er something to that effect. :)

My best tips after watching pics and listening to examples:

New heads, tuning drums, close micing,
and.......Good drummer makes everything sound good....... Practice.

(your snare needs first aid) :o
