i'm having this problem recording on my firepod. it sounds like its latency related, but trust me its not. so when i'm recording, about 2 seconds of audio simply wont be recorded. for example, i was doing a live recording of my band, and the song just skips about 2 seconds ahead after about a minute. i already know all about the clicks pops and dropouts thing having to do with the buffer size. trust me, thats NOT the problem. it does this no matter how that is set. here's my setup if that makes a difference:

mac mini (G4) 1.6 ghz, 1 gig of RAM
presonus firepod
cubase sl3

if anyone can help i'll send cookies or something. this is driving me insane

PS when i was paying really close attention to the waveform being recorded the other day i did notice something weird. all the audio will drop out for a split second, and after that the waveform actually lags behind the rest of the song.

Do you have a wireless adapter activated? I had problems with my laptop while the built in wireless was working. Also if you have it turned off you need to make sure your computer isn't still looking for a network. I don't know if this is your situation but it seems like your computer might be running something in the background that is causing the glitch.
I'm running a Firepod on a AMD 64 with 512BM of ram and recording 10 tracks at a time and playing back as many as 12 while recording and I have no problems.

i'll check it out, but i'm almost positive my wireless antenna is turned off. i'll check it out though. i did everything i possibly could to reduce stuff going on in the background. left the desktop background plain, turned off the screensaver, uninstalled all the programs i don't use, cleaned up my dock, repaired disk permissions more times than i care to count, and cleaned up ALL the stuff on my hard drive i dont need for recording. i'm not sure what else to do....other than throw it out the damn window, haha. thanks for the advice though, i'll definitely check it out. any other ideas?

I've had issues with a wireless network card as well. Not just with my Firepod, but also with an M-Audio 2496 card as well. As long as the wireless card is disabled in windows I'm good. Can't say that the symptoms are exactly like your symptoms, but it is definitely something to consider.

can you try to record at a lower quality level? Like 44.1/16? I am not suggesting it as a solution, just as a test. See if less throughput eliminates the problem. Also, is there a way to physically remove your wireless card? Pull it completely out to see if that takes care of the problem. Finally, have you hit the Presonus site? do they have a forum or help desk.

Just thinking outloud.

He's using a Mac mini, so he won't likely be able to remove the wireless card... if it isn't permanently attached to the motherboard in that thing, its still gonna be a bitch to get it open...

I run 2 pods and have recorded all 16 channels at once and have had no problems whatsoever.

But, when you throw out the window.. let me know which one so I can get it. I woould really liek a 3rd!! :D
