What a beautiful dream! I just hope it is not yet another elaborate rationalization for buying MORE GEAR.

Of course it is. Can't think of a better reason.

Hey RP, if I didn't spend money on the shop stuff, I'd have a collection like you!! Plus I collect rediculous stuff. Mostly hardware and fasteners. Man, theres a place here with more types of fasteners than I've ever seen. Lots of Stainless steel squarehead recess screws for marine applications. Say, I haven't told you guys about squarehead recess yet have I? Try them. Even for your home. They are great. I NEVER use Phillips anymore. They suck. I buy the squareheads in bulk. 5 lbs at a time. But this weather hear is WET most of the year. So stainless works great.
Good luck with the reorganization. You should see what I'm facing. Pics soon. Maybe tonight.

I. too, use square head screws which I get from McFeely's. (and some think you have to go all the way to Germany to get a square head screw)

Hello Derek, damn, us recording fools will find a way to bla bla anywhere we can huh! I'm glad you guys from Tascams bbs are coming here. This place used to be dead. Analog heads UNITE!

Hey, as far as the screws go, now, there is competition for squareheads. Some company is making Torques also. In every configuration possible. Saw them the other day, but squareheads will do me. No sense in changing my stock now that I have a hardware store full:D I even bought 30 of those 12"x12" red boxs with little drawers that you see at ACE and others, for organiZing my collection! They closed an ace hardware where I just moved from, and sold all the display stuff. I LOVE to build stuff. I'm even into crafts, and this winter I'm getting ready to build an inventory of craft show stuff for next year. LOTS of craft shows here on the coast. Went to one in downtown Coos Bay last week. There were over 200 vendors. Lots of old lady shit. NOTHING that compares to what I do.

Man, its like going back to the 70's here. I think I'm stuck in a Twilight Zone. Thier even into hot rods from the 60's here. Which is great for me. I build a lot of box's with those little potmetal car logos like the Mercedes circle and Cadilac "V". I go to junk yards and pull em off of the older cars. Even got a collection from the 40's I put em on MDF box's painted with auto acrylics. Line the inside with leathers, and velvet and trays and such. They sell like hotcakes. But thats not all I build. Signs, displays, fixtures, cabinetry, etc. Anyway, enough bla bla.

Alas. when the Tascambbs opens up, most of us will be gone.

I wonder why the bbs is the only part of their site that is down.

I'm waiting with the champange for the arrival of your 312 Herm.

No true craftsmam uses MDF for anything. Whatever happened to exotic woods?

When is the Tascam board comming back up?

Im sitting here wishing my 312 would show up and find out it just got shipped today. Man I was looking forward to playing with it this long weekend.

Also i would like to know what all you Analog guys are using for effects. Are you using digital stuff or sticking to Analog stuff?

Did you get the 312 off ebay about a week or so ago?

If so...

I had my mouse on the place bid button watching my timer count down... at 30 seconds I went to click place bid (300 dollars) and at the exact moment I was going to click, my damn computer locked up and re-booted. I've had the PC for about 6 months and that's the first time it's ever done that.

Good luck with the 312, I hope it works out great !!! Maybe I can get the next one :D

See Ya
Dennis

Is "Craftsmam" to keep us on our toes?? :)

What is MDF?

Craftsmam is a typo and MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard.

Rusty, funny! I've had the same glitch-out on my 'puter that messed up some of my...

last second bidding. Haha. Man, that sucks.

A long time ago, I was poised to score a PE-40 for like $66, when at the last moment, I decided to pop my email screen and check email real fast. THEN, instead of popping an email screen in a browser window, POW, BROWSERS STARTED SPAWNING OUT OF CONTROL, faster than I could close them! It was completely endless! It messed up my proposed bid, and was completely out of control, until I just hard-reset the system! Damn! Missed a good one, on that! [PE-40/$66]. Computers! Phooey!;)

You have those other little mixers (106 and 1016 ) that are on Ebay in your collection Reel?

(Or should I ask HOW MANY are in your collection already?)

:)

Yea, computers suck !

I was at home on dialup so by the time I re-booted, re-connected and signed back on to ebay, it was over. I was glad the guy got a good deal but was still a little pissed at myself for waiting till the last second. I should have just placed my bid at 300 earlier and just let the chips fall.

Here is the 312 I was looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2552343979&category=23785

218 bucks !!!

There's a 312b here in Chicago for $300 and it's making me crazy!!

BTW, My LOL was good natured 'cus I know that's gotta suck.

Did you guys check out that dude Geezer's tune "Schoomzin" in the mp3 clinic?? Damn!

:)

LOL that was Herm.

Cool... I'm glad it was one of us, I don't feel so bad now.

Dennis

SideNote: My wife, very religious and fine woman, stated that "It wasn't meant to be". I said "So you're saying GOD re-booted my computer?" She said "You never know..."

So Herm: According to my wife GOD meant for you to have that mixer. :D

See Ya
Dennis

Haha, no. I don't have an M106 or M1016, so you got me on that one!

Haha, yeah, I've also missed some prime bids just over the past few days, two times due to getting distracted and leaving the computer, and one that I stayed up so late, and could not keep awake any further!

Ref: Tascam 238, mint, $151
Ref: Tascam 244, mint, $56
Ref: Technics M240X, dbx cassette, mint, $15
Ref: Tascam PE-40, mint, $90
Ref: Tascam 238 AND Fostex 812, both, $285

... etc., etc., etc.

Have you ever been watching something all week, then just flaked or blown it at the last minute? HA. That's me, for sure, otherwise I'd have TWICE AS MUCH GEAR as I already do!

PS: Derek, I don't need elaborate rationalizations to score more gear. I just need to be in the mood, be near a GC or my computer, have a mouse, point & click, and have reasonable assurance that I'd not break the bank. I don't even feel need to justify it to my spouse, although just as an afterthought. I already have an established pattern with my audio hobby, and I just said the other day to her, "I'm not just buying gear, all gear-crazy, I actually want to start a studio someday." So, it's not a secret that I'll buy gear often, as often as possible really, BUT I forgot to mention a stealthy idea I have about gear and Ebay, but I won't get into it now. I also can fix broken units for fun & profit, potential, TBA. It depends on the day. I'm always looking for a good Tascam or Fostex deal, 7/24/356, and that won't change. As long as the bank doesn't break,...;)

There's a PE40 on ebay right now.

[whisper]you don't need another PE40...[/whisper]

[SHHHHH!] I'm watching that one too! [/SHHHHH!]

;)
