Right...I believe it was closed by the OP...that's his choice.
I agree with
grimtraveller...there is a deeper debate, but it never seems to get there because people react in an extreme way about gear, especially gear they own/use.
I find it somewhat amusing at the amount of strong positive comments people will try to apply to cheap, crappy gear at times...or the reverse, where they feel that anyone who has more expensive gear (or more expensive then theirs) is automatically an audio snob for promoting higher-end gear.
There's no question that when you are young and/or poor or just not yet hitting your earning potential...you gotta make do with what you can afford.
I don't really try to shoot down anyone talking about some cheap/crappy gear they just bought and are excited about...but I think it's OK to point out the "value" of that gear without doing it in a mean way, mainly because some of those same folks will come back and have all kinds of questions/issues about their recording quality, and often the gear is partially at fault.
I wish I had a $1 for every post I see about USB mics and poor sounding audio...so I won't hesitate to say to people that USB mics generally suck.
Behringer is an OK "first step" if that's what your budget allows, nothing wrong with that...and some of it can even find its way into more serious audio use...but on the whole, it really isn't anything to actually praise...IMHO.
To the guy who posted the comment about the Behringer 9024 being considered something special in some circles...if you know anyone that wants one, let me know...'cuz I'm putting mine up on eBay in the next few days. It's mint/clean and has the AES Digital I/O option installed, the manual, and original box.
