This has turned into a debate (and that's being generous) about what kind of music sucks and what doesn't. Music is art. If you like something, it's good, and if you don't, it sucks But no one type of music has a monopoly on "good". And within every style of music, there's good and there's bad.

i think hip hop production is quite exciting these days..it is a genre where there really aren't any rules at all right now...there is so much that is being done that i think it is keeping at a top seller. producing hip hop at a high level is not an easy thing..i am not talking about the local kid w/ a looped sample over a drum..im talking guys who know how to arrange and layer sounds and really make great music.

I see no problem with what Killah is doing.
He told the guy to re-do it, because he spotted problems, he wasn't being big headed, he was trying to help the dude get the best of his stuff, and if that's a BAD thing, then some of you engineers are FUCKING LAZY.

Sometimes it's a solid line between playing engineer and producer, though. KillER offered to mix a song for a newb (no non-newb would need or want to take such a blind offer). He didn't offer to play producer or tracking engineer. Lazy is refusing to take some less-than-perfect tracking and refusing to mix it.AllOrNothinEnt said:

I will, of course, keep the original tracks and project files. After I have completed the job asked of me and handed him back my final product, I'll let my boy know just what and where he woulda/coulda/shoulda. I'm sure he'll ask me that anyway. And maybe we'll go back and try a few things if he feels it's worth it.
But I do not reject the entire song out of the gate as being not worth my mixing talent. That's not for me to decide. Nor was KillER in the right place when he decided to pull a Simon Cowell on a guy who was expecting a free mix job.

thnx to All or nothing and southside for actually stating how i feel. i know when something is quick to point recording and 1 thats time invested. i doesnt take crap to mix a track. N too that bear dude were not all neve'd and ssl'ed here so relax with da arrogance. I just do what i do n let me do what i do thats str8 to the point, you make ya music the way you feel, i offer suggestions n do what i do and we'll have a nice day.
