I'm having trouble removing the pinch roller on my Otari MX-70. I unscrewed the top cover and it doesn't seem to come off. I don't want to risk damaging anything. I also can't seem to find any info in the manual. Thanks for your help.

If it's anything like my MX-80 (which it probably is)...it should just come up and slide off.

It may be "stuck" where the two metal parts contact each other inside, from not being removed in a long time.
Try rocking it gently while pulling up. You may want to remove the top cover oin the deck and so you can see the arm that retracts the pinch roller, then hold the arm in place/down when doing that so you don't damage/bend it.

If REALLY desperate put the tip of a hot solder iron in the shaft thread for about 20 seconds then put ONE drop of WD-40 on the shaft. Might work. I have found the combination of WD and heat shifts most mechanicals, used it on gun parts.

Try not to get WD on the rubber tho'
Dave.
